國松明日香
1947年 - 2024年、小樽市生まれ。
東京藝術大学美術学部彫刻科卒業。同美術研究科彫刻専門課程修了。1986年白老町旧飛生小学校に転居(〜1988年）。
第1回C.C.A.Cワールドプリントコンペティション（サンフランシスコ近代美術館）にて版画作品が最優秀賞を受賞するなど、活動初期には彫刻を学ぶ一方で版画を制作の中心としていた。
1980年代半ば頃から、金属を素材とした作品を制作。札幌駅前通りや
札幌ドームなど、パブリックスペースヘ設置する作品を多数制作。
厚別公園競技場に制作した「捷」で第4回本郷新賞を受賞。
2000年以降はステンレス鋼による板材と鉄による線材で構成された作品を制作。
札幌市民文化奨励賞、北海道文化賞奨励賞、札幌芸術賞、北海道文化賞など受賞多数。
金属の線材を使うようになり、制作前のデッサンをしなくなった。空間に金属で直接デッサンをするように制作する。造りながらあれこれと考えるのが面白い。作品がどの様な方向へ向かって進んでいくのか
判らないので、あたかも、行き先を決めない旅をしているようだ。しかしある地点にたどり着いてみると、又新たな旅立ちが求められる。終わりのない旅をしている。
Asuka Kunimatsu
1947-2025, born in Otaru.
Graduated from the Department of Sculpture, Faculty of Fine Arts, Tokyo University of the Arts. Completed the Sculpture Specialized Course, Graduate School of Fine Arts, Tokyo University of the Arts.
Moved to the former Tobiu Elementary School in Shiraoi Town in 1986 (until 1988).
Early in his career, while studying sculpture, he focused primarily on printmaking, winning the Grand Prize for printmaking at the 1st C.C.A.C. World Print Competition (San Francisco Museum of Modern Art).
From the mid-1980s, began creating works using metal as a primary material. Produced numerous works installed in public spaces, such as Sapporo Ekimae-dori and Sapporo Dome.
Received the 4th Hongo Shin Award for “捷”, created for Atsubetsu Park Stadium.
Since 2000, he has created works composed of stainless steel plates and iron wire.
He has received numerous awards, including the Sapporo Citizen Culture Encouragement Award, the Hokkaido Culture Award Encouragement Prize, the Sapporo Art Award, and the Hokkaido Culture Award.
Since I began working with metal, I have stopped making preparetory drawings. It is like drawing in the air with metal. I enjoy thinking while creating. It feels like a journey without a destination because I do not know where it lead. At certain moments, a new departure calls. It is an endless journey.
