Fotografie dell'opening in Venice Art House il 28 Maggio 2016

BODIES+CITIES SKIN, part of BORDERS, International Art and Architecture Festival, presents the works of important artists and architects from all over the world.

BORDERS festival, curated by Arch. Luca Curci (director of It's LIQUID Group) and Andrea Chinellato (director of Venice Art House and Ca' Zanardi), is hosted in Venice, at Venice Art House Gallery and at Palazzo Ca’ Zanardi, from May 28 to July 29, 2016.

The opening events, on May 28 at Venice Art House Gallery and on May 29 at Palazzo Ca' Zanardi, open the curtain on the great selection of architectural projects, video art screenings, photography, painting, installation works. During the openings a huge number of visitors attended the exhibition, with a rich presence of architects, designers and artists involved, live performances and videos' premiers. The event is daily attended by many national and international visitors in both venues, opened until the end of July.

The whole ground floor of Palazzo Ca' Zanardi is occupied by the solo exhibition of the international architectural studio JEMS ARCHITEKCI from Poland with a great selection of their last works like the International Congress Centre in Katowice, the Polish History Museum in Warsaw, and the Extension of the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw. The works exhibited followed all the steps necessary for the realization of architectural projects from the sketches to the three-dimensional scale model, to the final photos of the build edifice. The JEMS ARCHITEKCI solo show is completed by the publication of a catalogue specifically realized in a limited edition for BODIES+CITIES SKIN, part of BORDERS festival.

The first floor of Palazzo Ca' Zanardi hosts the innovative works of Polish architectural group KAMJZ, leaded by architect Maciej Jakub Zawadzki, that presents a video installation and two models of the project made in collaboration with Shell and Bmw. The group EOVASTUDIO presents many different models of its works realized in different materials according to their research about traditional and innovative materials in architecture.

At Venice Art House Gallery, the group pS Arkitektur from Sweden and its architect Peter Sahlin, that was in Venice for the opening, present their installation DOORS. According to the architects' presentation of the work: "in the exhibion the door becomes a symbol of border, but also of finding way through. It materialize the issues we're facing today, and the possibilities that lies within architecture to include or exclude".

The video-installation “Layers of Berlin / Berlin under the skin”, of the German architectural group MASKE+SUHREN ARCHITEKTEN UND DESIGNER, "aims to strip back this concrete veil and reveal the heart and soul of a city in permanent dynamic transformation, a city whose present is a fluid and continuous dialogue between past and future". In their research, architects "source photographs and fragments of archive films from the last 100 years of history to compose a selection of significant buildings and locations in the city of Berlin".

The Czech critically acclaimed artist Daniel Pešta presents three of his video works "Narcissus", "Scream" and "The Bride", part of the video selection of BODIES+CITIES SKIN, that include many international successful video artists like Antonia Pia Gordon from UAE that presents her impressive work "In the Labyrinth of my Exhibitionistic Impulses".

According to the world of the project coordinator of the festival, architect Domenico Fallacara: "BORDERS contains a theoretical and practical research, something thinkable and tangible. BODIES+CITIES SKIN is the first step of this research, that starts from the borderline par excellence, the SKIN.

In Architecture the skin, buildings’ and cities’ skin, is the way that architectural objects have to face the world. To impress and to be impressed. In Art, the skin is the surface of the artistic objects, the artworks, but also the skin of the artists, the skin of the human beings as an art field.

The skin is the place where each man and each object ends and the world starts.

BODIES+CITIES SKIN is a research on this contact point and on this starting point.
To experience something new".

is an award winning fiber artist whose practice has pioneered the forward movement of the Contemporary Art Quilt in Japan and throughout the world via exhibition and workshops. Surprisingly, the introduction of the Western traditional

AND CONTINUE THIS CREATIVE IMPULSE TILL

"We will create new free-style mixed-media quilts without limitation of technique, materials or tradition.
Hand stitching or sewing machine techniques are available but most important is your attitude of openess and exploration; what you feel and the intention you bring to the workshop. Participants are encouraged to bring their own materials
and hand stitching tools, but are offered my own original stamped and dyed materials as well."

NEW DRAWING & PAINTING WORKSHOP :GREGORY J. ROSE / usa

"My work is rooted in how narrative intersects with collective memory. The use of fragments is attuned to the notion of scar tissue,
with the combination of visual language co-opted from the urban landscape, and the history of abstraction in drawing and painting.
Intimacy, in the moment of violence and intense energy, seems to be what really is the main vein running through my work."

Rose is a graduate of Pennsylvania State University, he received his Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in 2000, and received his
Master of Fine Arts Degree from the University of Minnesota in 2004 with a concentration in Drawing and Painting.
Gregory has been teaching in the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities system since 2003 and is Fine Arts Faculty at

MOVING BEYOND THE CANVAS : THE BODY IN MOTION
( an ORGANIC TRAINING WORKSHOP)

French dancer, choreographer and visual artist MACHA MELANIE is the newest addition to the workshop roster
of GLOBAL ART PROJECT and joins us after extensive experience in collaborative dance and directed
movement exercises whose aim is total involvement of the body, the senses and the creative impulses
culminating in a liberating experience designed to inform the practice of any artist or anyone interested
in the process of becoming a more "in-touch" creative being. If you can move you can take this workshop.
All levels of experience or interest in the arts are encouraged to participate.

MACHA MELANIE:
"This workshop is structured around a research project: that of a state being. It requires no technical

expertise. Students follow the path of their own dance. It begins with stretching (inspired from yoga),

and extends through directed improvisations, where we explore the infinite treasures of dancing

(exterior space, inner space, the game of bones which slide inside the flesh, the sensitivity of the skin ...

the exchange between the body and gravity, relative to the ground, air, music ...). Listening to our

"dancing beast", these workshops have always improved the merits of movement, trust and harmony

within the group, and the famous “letting go” that allows you to be fully available to innovate! Once

fluidity is found in the body through improvisations, it can be expressed in other ways (automatic

drawing etc.)"

Thursday August 18
1100 -0100
2 hour session
30 euro

or

Friday August 19
1100 - 0100
