What if a fossil became the starting point of an interior?
This original Eocene fossil slab from Wyoming, featuring Phareodus, existed millions of years before the space imagined around it.
For ZOIC DESIGN, that is precisely where the creative opportunity begins.
We explored one possibility: taking the fossil from the object itself, through the first conceptual sketches, to an imagined installation within the intimate atmosphere of a luxury seafood restaurant.
This is not a finished interior design proposal. It is an invitation to see the object differently.
Every fossil is unique. Its dimensions, texture, colour, provenance and history cannot be reproduced — and this absence of seriality opens an entirely different field for architects and interior designers.
We provide the fossil. You provide the vision.
As palaeontological preparators, we understand the material behind the object: what it is, where it comes from and the story it carries. Our role is to make that knowledge available to designers — while the aesthetic interpretation remains entirely theirs.
