Dal 18 settembre all’8 dicembre, Villa Carlotta racconta una stagione affascinante della sua storia, tra principesse, duchi e grandi dinastie europee.
In occasione del bicentenario della nascita di Giorgio II di Sassonia-Meiningen, la mostra accompagna alla scoperta di personaggi, relazioni e vicende che hanno contribuito a fare della villa una raffinata dimora aristocratica.

From 18 September to 8 December, Villa Carlotta tells the story of a fascinating chapter in its history, shaped by princesses, dukes and great European dynasties.
To mark the bicentenary of the birth of George II, Duke of Saxe-Meiningen, the exhibition invites visitors to discover the people, relationships and stories that helped transform the villa into a refined aristocratic residence.

📚 Tra i libri del Duca Georg II

In occasione delle celebrazioni per il bicentenario del duca Giorgio II di Sassonia-Meningenn, il 4 ottobre, alle 14.30, Villa Carlotta invita le famiglie a scoprirne il lato più intimo, racchiuso tra le pagine dei libri della sua biblioteca.

Un pomeriggio dedicato a conoscere le sue passioni attraverso le letture che amava e lasciarsi ispirare dalle storie e dalle immagini custodite nei suoi libri. Al termine della visita, spazio alla creatività per i più piccoli, che attraverso un laboratorio artistico potranno raccontare ciò che amano di più.

📚 Among the books of Duke Georg II

On the occasion of the celebrations for the bicentenary of Duke George II of Saxe-Meningenn, on 4 October, at 2.30 pm, Villa Carlotta invites families to discover its most intimate side, enclosed within the pages of the books in its library.

An afternoon dedicated to learning about his passions through the readings he loved and being inspired by the stories and images preserved in his books. At the end of the visit, there will be room for creativity for the little ones, who will be able to share what they love most through an art workshop.

Anche tu puoi fare la differenza adottando una pianta di Villa Carlotta.
A seguito del maltempo che ha colpito il territorio del lago di Como a fine agosto, abbiamo calcolato una perdita di circa 80 esemplari di alberi abbattuti, oltre ai numerosi danni al giardino e alle sue strutture. In un mese siamo riusciti a riaprire completamente il giardino al pubblico, tuttavia c’è ancora molto da fare, come ci racconta nel video il nostro Capo giardiniere Simone.
Per questo, il vostro aiuto è significativo e adottando una pianta potrete contribuire alla piantumazione al recupero dei numerosi esemplari perduti.

You too can make a difference by adopting a plant at Villa Carlotta.
Following the severe weather that hit the Lake Como area at the end of August, we estimated that around 80 trees were uprooted, along with extensive damage to the garden and its structures. Within a month, we managed to fully reopen the garden to the public, but there is still much to be done, as our Head Gardener Simone explains in the video.
Your support can make a meaningful difference. By adopting a plant, you can contribute to the replanting and recovery of the many trees and plants that were lost.

💚 Settembre è anche un mese di ascolto.
Prosegue CulturAll, il progetto con cui Villa Carlotta lavora per costruire un’esperienza di visita sempre più accessibile e inclusiva, mettendo al centro le persone e i loro bisogni.

Abbiamo accolto in Villa le cooperative coinvolte nel progetto, invitandole a vivere l’esperienza di visita attraverso il loro punto di vista. Il loro contributo ci sta aiutando a comprendere quali strumenti e servizi risultano già efficaci e quali sono, invece, gli aspetti su cui possiamo ancora migliorare.

Un percorso che parte da una parola semplice, ma fondamentale: ascoltare.

CulturAll is underway, a project through which Villa Carlotta is working to create an increasingly accessible and inclusive visitor experience, placing people and their needs at the heart of the process.

We welcomed the cooperatives involved in the project to Villa Carlotta, inviting them to experience the visit from their own perspective. Their contribution is helping us understand which tools and services are already effective and which aspects we can further improve.

A journey that begins with a simple yet fundamental word: listening.

Nel parco di Villa Carlotta, due opere ambientali di Maria Dompè rendono omaggio alla principessa Carlotta di Prussia, proprietaria della villa, scomparsa a soli 23 anni. Con lei ricordano anche tutte le donne che hanno dovuto rinunciare ai propri sogni.

Il progetto è a cura di Elena Di Raddo, con Livia Crispolti e gli studenti del corso di Cultura tessile dell’Accademia di Belle Arti di Brera, con il coordinamento di Maria Angela Previtera e dei giardinieri di Villa Carlotta.

Le opere abitano le nuove aree del parco riqualificate grazie al progetto “Un passo nel parco, un passo verso il futuro”, realizzato nell’ambito del PNRR e finanziato dall’Unione Europea – NextGenerationEU.

To the women who are not allowed to fulfill their dreams.
In the park of Villa Carlotta, two environmental artworks by Maria Dompè pay tribute to Princess Charlotte of Prussia, owner of the villa, who died at just 23. With her, they remember all the women who had to give up their dreams.

The artworks are set in the newly restored areas of the park, part of the project “A step into the park, a step towards the future”, carried out under Italy’s National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR) and funded by the European Union – NextGenerationEU.

As part of the celebrations marking the bicentenary of Duke Georg II of Saxe-Meiningen, Villa Carlotta joins this special initiative bringing together museums and cultural institutions for a weekend dedicated to art, history and beauty.
