Always our favorite highlight each semester, last week’s AHS Trip featured escapades to Palestrina and Gabii.

Professor Gallone provided a once-in-a-lifetime tour of the archeological site of Gabii, discussing the nature of the ancient city as well as insight to archaeological methods, conservation and research. The intrepid group of Art History Society members and professors then headed to Palestrina, famous for its 2nd-century BC sanctuary of Fortuna Primigenia and polychrome ‘Nile mosaic’. We then visited the two archaeological museums housed respectively at the ancient city forum and in the former Barberini palace with 17th-century frescoes.

Thank you to everyone who joined us on this journey, we can’t wait for the next adventure with you all! 🏺✨

TONIGHT | In collaboration with the Arab Student Association, Women’s Leadership Initiative, and the Literature and Creative Writing Club, we invite you to join us this evening from 5-8 pm for “Borders and Bridges: An Exploration of Migration and the Evolving Nature of Identity.” A tour de force collaborative exhibition to be unveiled at our 4m2 Gallery on Guarini Campus this evening, the exhibition will then be transferred to Zalib Circolo ARCI, where it can be enjoyed all weekend long, April 11-12.

This exhibition examines how movement across borders reshapes culture, belonging, and self-perception. Through visual art, crafted paintings, sculptures, photography, and multimedia installations, artists are asked to reflect on transition, adaptation, and the bridges built between heritage and new homelands.

Borders and Bridges seeks to provide a platform for diverse artistic voices that explore the complexity of migration and identity. By showcasing perspectives from across different diasporas, the exhibition aims to highlight stories of resilience, transformation, and the ever-shifting nature of home.

Thank you to everyone who joined us on the exciting gallery visit.
In a packed but thrilling afternoon, we not only saw a huge amount but also had a chance to talk to curators and artists about the shows. The AHS group saw Titina Maselli’s exhibition at the MLAC, followed by « La Promesa del Vuoto » and « Aperture » at Pastificio Cerere, « To tell a story » at the Galleria Monitor and finally « 10 on Paper » at the Matèria gallery. We even managed to add an extra visit, the Gilda Lavia gallery !
Thank you to Professor Gianni who accompanied us on this amazing visit to San Lorenzo.

We hope to see you all soon on our next events 🏺✨

Earlier this fall, the AHS proudly celebrated its 10th anniversary—our biggest highlight of the semester—as part of the JCU Alumni Reunion. We had the immense pleasure of hosting a meaningful roundtable discussion between past and present members of the AHS, followed by a guided tour of the 4m2 Gallery’s site-specific exhibition “Tre Lavori Di Nicchia,” and an exciting outing to the newly-established Foresteria Center for Graduate Studies, including a lunch with faculty.

In commemoration of this remarkable decade of the AHS, we extend our deepest gratitude to our advisor, Professor Inge Hansen, for her unequalled dedication to the arts and us. Further, we thank the incredible professionals at JCU who enable us to make our plans a reality.

Finally, we would like to sincerely thank you, both alumni and current members, for an enchanting and extraordinary 10 years – every day marks a celebration of your enduring passion and zeal for the arts! To further celebrate our legacy, we invite you to join us on the JCU Alumni Network (link in bio), a dedicated space where we can stay connected, share ideas, and find career-opportunities with members across these 10 years.

See you in the spring! And here’s to many more 🏺🧡✨

Rounding off a vibrant fall, we are thrilled to share a sneak peek of last Friday’s successful collaborative exhibition, “Spoken Art!” An interdisciplinary endeavor, the installation featured spoken performances by members of the , in turn paired with fellow talent at the .jcu who translated the writings into visual works—a stunning mélange of artistic practices that allowed for unprecedented creativity on campus.

It was an honor to curate the display and give form to such a dynamic event, and we extend a sincere thanks to both and .jcu for sharing in our community’s commitment to artistic inventiveness.

Thank you to all who attended!
