Pietro RUFFO’s new exhibition opens on Tuesday 14 February 2023 at the gallery in Rome, from 18:30 to 20:00.
Titled “The Planetary Garden”, the show is Ruffo’s reflection on human evolution and our interactions with Earth.
With references to ancient forgotten cities overgrown with vines, classical Rome, and Piranesian architecture, Ruffo creates with his distinctive cut-out techniques multi-layered works which speak of the eternal power of nature throughout the geological eras.

✨Happy Birthday, Domenico Bianchi!✨
In the video, recorded by @manifatturatabacchifi, the artist talks about art schools and artists.
“You can learn to become a mechanic, you can learn many things, but it’s difficult to learn how to be an artist, because who can teach you how to have courage? Where do you learn how to take risks and the role that the artist has in these things?
The important thing is to have somebody that tells you how to live through those emotions”.

“Afternoon At Palazzo Altemps” - A book of photographs by Simon Watson (@simonpwatson).
In his new book “Afternoon at Palazzo Altemps”, the distinguished Irish photographer Simon Watson explores the sublime 15th century palazzo near Piazza Navona in Rome.
Palazzo Altemps is very familiar to Watson from his many visits to Rome; he says:
“The photographs in this monograph are a culmination of the many visits and observations I’ve made over the years. Indeed, some sculptures began to feel like old friends, and in some way I began a relationship with the museum and its contents, which I’ve photographed dozens of times. It wasn’t my original intention to make a book, but back in my studio the images willed their way from my archive and onto the pages of this volume.”
Originally designed by Melozzo da Forlì (1438-1494), the building saw great events and occasions over the centuries, including performances by Mozart during his stay in Rome. It is now home to some of the greatest sculptures of antiquity found in the city, Roman masterpieces as well as works from Egypt and Greece, pieces already in Rome in ancient times.
