David Dawson’s exhibition ‘Land, Sky, Light’ opened this weekend at Gainsborough’s House in Sudbury, Suffolk, UK.

The exhibition presents new landscape and studio paintings alongside the collection of works by Gainsborough, Constable, and Turner.

Building on the rich tradition of British landscape painting, David Dawson continuously returns to the place he grew up in the Welsh countryside to paint the landscapes and animals that he has connected with for his entire life.

Using the intricacy of his compositions and the freshness of his palette, he interprets the seasonal shifts and quiet movements of both the Welsh surroundings and of his inner emotional landscape.

“Giorgio Griffa. Summer 69” opened last week at the Fondazione Giorgio Griffa in Turin.

Marking Giorgio Griffa’s 90th birthday, the exhibition returns to a significant moment in his artistic journey – the summer of 1969. That summer Griffa met with Paolo Mussat Sartor and Gian Enzo Sperone in the still unopened Galleria Sperone in Turin. It was an informal yet pivotal encounter, where Griffa’s research of the 1960s began to crystallize.

In those months, he continued to shape an essential pictorial language made of primary signs – lines, segments and notches traced in vertical, horizontal, and diagonal rhythms, laying the foundations for the work that would define him throughout his career.

The exhibition shows paintings accompanied by Sartor’s photographs of Griffa at work in the gallery spaces, in a dialogue that restores the vibrancy of that creative moment.

Since the 1960s Giorgio Griffa has been one of the leading exponents of Post-War Italian painting. Drawing from mathematics, rhythm, music, poetry, literature and philosophy Griffa created a vibrant style of minimalist abstraction which he continuous to expand and develop today!

His work is exhibited all over the world and is part of many major instiutions such as the MAXXI, Tate Modern and the Centre Pompidou
