Opening in a couple of weeks in Seoul: Awakened by Hejum Bä

For her first solo exhibition in Seoul with MASSIMODECARLO, Hejum Bä presents a new body of work conceived specifically for the hanok. This traditional Korean house was regenerated by Byoung Cho, one of Korea’s leading architects. Taking a Seoul subway encounter as its starting point, the exhibition considers the unexpected overlap between financial ambition, family and care.

마시모데카를로는 배헤윰 작가와 함께 서울에서 첫 개인전 《Awakened》를 선보입니다.
이번 전시는 한옥 공간을 위해 특별히 구상한 신작들로 구성되며, 한국을 대표하는 건축가 조병수가 기존 공간의 가치를 살려 새롭게 재생한 특별한 장소에서 펼쳐집니다.
서울 지하철에서의 한 우연한 만남을 출발점으로, 《Awakened》는 경제적 욕망과 가족, 그리고 관계가 교차하는 동시대의 삶을 작가 특유의 시선으로 들여다봅니다.

Every object exists twice, wrote the physicist Arthur Stanley Eddington - solid and substantial on one side, and on the other, atoms and empty space, briefly agreeing to behave like a surface.

Alicja Kwade's Dimora Dislocata, on view now at MASSIMODECARLO Milano, is built on exactly that doubling. Casa Corbellini-Wassermann - former home, now exhibition space - exists in two registers at once: private history and public present, familiar and somehow elsewhere.

A closer look at Mimmo Paladino's Small Town - on view now at MASSIMODECARLO Milano.

Small Town (2026) is a city in miniature - bronze and iron heads, figures, symbols that run through and inhabit Paladino's practice. Thirty-three sculptures made between 1993 and 2009, gathered on a steel table, fill the room like a constellation of presences. Each form carries its own history, and together they become something larger.

Massimo De Carlo and Yan Pei-Ming have known each other for nearly 40 years.

In 2016, it was his paintings that inaugurated MASSIMODECARLO Hong Kong. Ten years on, the artist presents MASKS: Yan Pei-Ming - a major retrospective opening March 22nd at HEM He Museum in Shunde.

Maurizio Cattelan receives the Preis der Nationalgalerie 2026!

The award celebrates one of the most influential voices in contemporary art, whose practice - spanning sculpture, installation, and conceptual gestures - combines sharp humour with profound social reflection. His first solo exhibition in Germany will open at the Neue Nationalgalerie during Berlin Art Week 2026, supported by BMW.

From his iconic works La Nona Ora and Him to the infamous “Spaghetti Car” created with BMW in 2016, Cattelan continues to merge irony and gravity, wit and critique, turning discomfort into reflection.
