Starting tomorrow, September 2, the Fondazione Franco Zeffirelli Museum, Archive, and Library reopen their doors, ready to take you on a journey through theatre, cinema, opera, and art.

Some photographs tell the story of a film. Others tell the story of everything that happened around it.

In this 1982 photograph, Franco Zeffirelli and Plácido Domingo, guests on the Italian television programme Domenica In alongside Pippo Baudo, share a moment of laughter while promoting La traviata. A candid image that captures not only the close artistic bond between two great performers, but also a glimpse into the history of Italian television.

Starring the remarkable Teresa Stratas, La traviata was acclaimed internationally and received two Academy Award nominations for Best Art Direction and Best Costume Design.

The Fondazione Zeffirelli Archive preserves photographs like this one: images that document not only the making of the Maestro's works, but also their journey beyond the stage and the film set, through encounters, television appearances, and the cultural life that surrounded them.

Un momento di leggerezza che restituisce non solo l'intesa tra due grandi artisti, legati da un lungo sodalizio, ma anche uno spaccato della televisione italiana di quegli anni.

Realizzato con la straordinaria interpretazione di Teresa Stratas, La traviata conquistò il pubblico internazionale e ottenne due candidature agli Oscar, per la scenografia e i costumi.

September marks the return of one of the Fondazione Zeffirelli Museum's most anticipated events.

Starting Saturday, September 5, our guided tours led by the Fondazione Zeffirelli staff are back, offering the opportunity to discover the Maestro's artistic and personal journey through artworks, sketches, costumes, photographs, and multimedia installations.

As usual, guided tours take place on the first and third Saturday of each month at 11:00 a.m.

Da sabato 5 settembre, riprendono le visite guidate a cura dello staff della Fondazione Zeffirelli, un'occasione per scoprire il percorso artistico e umano del Maestro attraverso opere, bozzetti, costumi, fotografie e installazioni multimediali.

C'è tempo fino al 13 settembre per iscriversi a "Come si realizza un documentario", il corso a cura del regista e documentarista Luca Verdone.

Un percorso intensivo di quattro incontri dedicato a chi desidera approfondire il linguaggio del documentario attraverso un'esperienza pratica e un confronto diretto con il docente. Dall'idea iniziale alla sceneggiatura, dalle riprese al montaggio, fino alla proiezione pubblica finale del cortometraggio realizzato durante il corso.

Three photographs. Three behind-the-scenes moments. A journey into the heart of Franco Zeffirelli's cinema.

Selected from the Fondazione Zeffirelli Archive, these images take us back to the set of Endless Love (1981), where the Maestro is seen directing the young stars Brooke Shields, just fifteen years old and already internationally renowned, and Martin Hewitt, making his screen debut. Together, these photographs offer a glimpse into the creative dialogue between the director, his actors, and the crew, where every scene began to take shape.

Based on the bestselling novel of the same name, Endless Love became an international box-office success, grossing more than 30 million dollars in the United States. The Franco Zeffirelli Foundation remembers Fulvio Lucisano, film producer and, above all, friend and collaborator of Franco Zeffirelli.

His professional career became intertwined with that of Franco Zeffirelli through the production of two important works by the Maestro: Otello (1986) and Young Toscanini (1988).

A professional relationship born from a shared passion for cinema and, over time, strengthened into a bond of mutual esteem and friendship.

The Foundation preserves the memory of this partnership, which contributed to creating significant chapters in Franco Zeffirelli’s cinematic legacy.

La Fondazione Franco Zeffirelli ricorda Fulvio Lucisano, produttore cinematografico e, soprattutto, amico e collaboratore di Franco Zeffirelli.

Il suo percorso professionale si è intrecciato con quello di Franco Zeffirelli, con la produzione di due importanti opere del Maestro: Otello (1986) e Il giovane Toscanini (1988).

Un rapporto professionale nato dalla comune passione per il cinema e consolidato nel tempo in un legame di stima e amicizia.
