ARTIST FOCUS //

Veljko Vučković is a fresh voice in contemporary international painting whose research explores the thin line between digital reproduction and painterly authenticity.

Vučković is best known for his atmospheric, monochromatic compositions. His deliberate choice of grey tones serves as a powerful conceptual tool, a nod to the modern aesthetic of capitalism, screens, and media-saturated environments. By stripping cinematic frames of their color and context, his paintings evoke deep, ambiguous social and political tensions, leaving the narrative open for the viewer to decipher.

With a brilliant academic background as a PhD graduate and Assistant Professor in Belgrade, Vučković has quickly gained international recognition, winning the in 2025.
He has exhibited in over 120 group shows and 20 solo exhibitions worldwide, including appearances at Art Miami and London Art Fair over the past years.

We are proud to have presented his latest body of work in the exhibition "HUNTING SHADOWS" an exhibition curated and organized in collaboration with

"In Veljko Vučković’s painterly style, images emerge from a multitude of cinematic fragments subjected to a masterful, almost archaeological process of digital manipulation and critical selection of elements, only to reappear forcefully on the canvas as a singular presence. In its transition from the post-digital to materiality, the painting echoes the atmospheres of film noir, through stark chiaroscuro, acidic tones, urban tensions, and latent narratives.

It condenses political impulses and visual fragments into an essential grammar, where light, concealment, and montage construct an imaginary world that is as enigmatic as it is incisive."

Domenico de Chirico, curator of the Prisma Art Prize.

A look into the studio of , where digital imagery stops being reproducible and becomes an unrepeatable, physical object.

Through a sophisticated play of high contrasts and fragmented narratives, Veljko translates cinematic tension into deep, textured oil paintings.

We are pleased to announce the opening of “EROS AND ASHES”, an exhibition by Palina Adriana and Yulia Bas, on May 15th at 6:00 PM at , Florence.

Palina Adriana moved from fashion design between London, Paris, and New York into painting, developing a visual language that blends abstraction and figuration through expressive gestures and realistic elements. Based in Florence since 2021, she has been exhibiting between Paris and Zurich since 2024.

Yulia Bas, after a successful career in architecture and yacht design between Italy and Spain, returned to art and now works from Barcelona. Her practice has been presented internationally, including collaborations with Christie’s London and major art fairs, with works held in private collections worldwide.

The works of two artists emerge from moments of rupture and transformation. Through painting, both artists explore fragmentation, renewal, and the continuous reshaping of identity between emotional tension and new forms of expression.

For over forty years, Zhang Chaoyin has conducted systematic research in the Himalayan region, creating a visual and cultural atlas of the planet's so-called "Third Pole." His work, grounded in the rigorous use of analog film and platinum-palladium printing, combines documentary precision and poetic depth, transforming the image into a tool of knowledge.

As Li Shuanke, Director of Chinese National Geography, emphasizes: "Zhang Chaoyin's work represents a profound dialogue that spans the dimensions of time and space. His images not only document the Himalayan landscape, but also restore its cultural memory and geographical awareness."

✨SAVE THE DATE! We are delighted to invite you to the opening of “EROS AND ASHES”, an exhibition by Palina Adriana and Yulia Bas, on May 15th at 6:00 PM at , Florence.

The works of Palina Adriana and Yulia Bas originate from a mutual point of rupture, moments in which personal structures give way, unsettling both emotional certainty and established modes of expression. Yet neither practice treats loss as a final condition. Instead, each artist approaches transformation as a continuous, active process: a passage through fragmentation toward renewal, where identity is not simply restored but lately formed.

Cinematic frames transformed into unique painterly objects.

explores the transition between digital manipulation and direct painterly gesture, investigating the construction of the image through the lens of power and ambiguity.
By deconstructing motifs from European politically engaged cinema and Italian crime movies, Vučković translates reproducible media into oil paintings with precision. The result is a body of work where high contrast, black-and-white tones, and fragmented narratives invite a multivalent interpretation.

The exhibition “Hunting Shadows” is now on view at the Aria Art Gallery.

We look forward to seeing you!
