Han Bing's painting is surprisingly fascinating due to the immediate connection the observer establishes with it. The eye, at first glance dazzled by the chromatic colors, quickly rediscovers itself, stimulated to traverse the painting, identifying the subject of a never clearly defined image. The brushstrokes, juxtaposed and balanced, are drawn following the artist's instinct, the motion of the soul. Animals, ever-changing and elusive subjects, are among the favorite themes, as well as flowers and nature, a legacy of traditional Chinese artistic culture that Han Bing knows well.
bingg was born in Shi Jia Zhuang, China in 1992. Lives and works between China and Italy. Han Bing does not abide by fixed rules. Bing reworks and borrows from different cultures in different periods, without limits, without a predefined style, technique, or dimension. He combines myths, religions, comics, and bad painting. Returning repeated images, thus eluding a single cultural background.

Embark on an artistic odyssey with Edoardo Cicconi in the vibrant city of Shanghai! ✨ Delighted to unveil his creative journey as part of the prestigious Artist Residency Program by the Institute of Cultural and Creative Industry (ICCI) at Shanghai Jiao Tong University, in collaboration with Aria Art Gallery.

After a month of research and work during the residency program, the exhibition of the five artists was inaugurated at No. 8 Bridge Art Space. The exhibition drew in more than a hundred attendees for the opening, offering a collective experience of the unique artistic journey inspired by imagination and technological creativity.

-

The exhibition is titled "Remnants of the Unknowable," aiming to continue the discussion on "Memory Trace" as introduced by Plato. drawing on his unique philosophical background, focused on the two major themes of time and space during his residency, creating the installation piece titled "Porta" (Door). In this artwork, an artistic installation reminiscent of cosmic rays forms a mysterious and fantastical space, much like a black hole. The audience's perception undergoes changes as they move within this space. The "mirrored" reflections echo Shanghai's inclusive and globally connected spirit, harmonizing with old architecture to construct a temporal and spatial corridor that bridges the "past, present, and future."

“The distinctive characteristic of the new man is his awareness of the illusory nature of opposite. Those which the old mankind consider opposites are in fact two faces of the same reality, like the two ends of a stick… Good and bad, true and false, beautiful and ugly, are not opposing forms of existence, but steps or levels of the real…
Behing the apparent antagonisms, there lies a harmonising force capable of unting them, and leading them to a higher order.”

"In my works, there is a door, an access point that can lead those who observe them to be carried away into an immaterial dimension; glass constitutes the permeable zone through which one surpasses the external appearance to enter the evocative one, where everyone finds their own key to reading and interpreting their personal perceptions and emotions.

This Zone is, for me, a "sacred" place, the starting point of an inner journey that has neither time nor space, an ancestral chromosome belonging to the human species that transcends every cultural barrier and reconnects us to an essential relationship between our material dimension and the deeper dimension of the Soul.
For me, this is the profound meaning of making Art."

Through Malfatti's work, we perceive an uninterrupted harmonizing force. This force is not simply the fusion of opposing poles, but rather a celebration of unity within diversity. Glass, as well as color, plays a fundamental role in a pictorial process aimed at portraying two adversaries in search of identity, in the eternal quest for harmonization. In a world often prone to divisions and oppositions, the artist emerges as a shining example of how opposites are not insurmountable barriers but rather connecting threads.

"Lorenzo Malfatti reflects on the incessant interaction between Water and Fire, these two elements, considering them as the engine of a constantly evolving life. This interaction leaves a mark, a scar, which sometimes can heal, but other times continues to "bleed," highlighting the destructive aspect of the two elements. Art seeks to highlight how humans, by disrupting the natural balances, have accentuated this destructive power of the two elements, leading to a situation in which 'the scars have started bleeding again'."

"Transparencies and reflections have become my palette: an endless array of chromatic variations, a crystallized yet pulsating fluid of energy that absorbs and reflects light to transmit it in fragmented, infinite variations. I have never attempted to describe the visible; instead, I've aimed to evoke the invisible, that hidden part residing in the deepest recesses of our psyche."

“The artworks of Lorenzo Malfatti serve as a gateway to an immaterial dimension, where each observer can find their own key to understanding and interpreting their personal perceptions and emotions. This dimension is, for Malfatti, a "sacred" place, the starting point of a timeless and spaceless inner journey, an ancestral chromosome of humanity that transcends all cultural barriers and reconnects the human being to the deepest dimension of the soul. In this, he sees the true meaning of artistic creation.”

Lorenzo Malfatti was born in 1959 in Viareggio, where he still lives and works today. In the mid-80s, he founded the MALò studio and dedicated himself to the exploration of glass fusion, developing his personal technique of incorporating colored pigments, mineral oxides, and metallic fragments within layers of glass. The heat of the furnace melds these materials into unique, intricately designed blocks.

His distinctive glass fusion technique led him on a path of contemporary artistic exploration, diverging from the more classical decorative aspects of traditional stained glass. Instead, he introduced new subjects and informal themes to create thick, fused glass bas-reliefs.

"Lorenzo Malfatti describes his work as a long journey into LIGHT, where he seeks to capture, manipulate, and return light through his creations. He focuses on the meticulous analysis of every aspect of light, including glares, reflections, and shadows, to infuse energy and dynamism into his artworks. Glass has become the distinctive material of his pieces, as its transparencies and reflections allow for an infinite palette of chromatic variations, transforming glass into a crystallized and vibrant fluid of energy that absorbs and reflects light in endless variations."
