Teké Gallery is located in the historical center of Carrara, Tuscany, Italy. The gallery is considered like a sort of short circuit of the galleries because of the relationships it manages to establish with the artists. Works predominantly with illustration, street art, comic art and sculpure always strictly growing up from the underground culture. The main artists represented by Tekè Gallery are:
Gianluca Lerici aka Professor Bad Trip, Igor Hofbauer, Jesse Jacobs, Marco Filicio Marinangeli, Carles Garcia O’Dowd aka G.O’D. The Teké was a place with an ambiguous aims and nature: a tavern counter, two or three bottles of colored liqueurs, and the half-closed shutters. A place where people met to smoke hookah, chat, find love for a fee and waste time with friends. A small dark and smoky space where illegality mixed with entertainment; the bourgeoisie with the underworld. A way to spend the evenings imported into Greece by immigrants driven out of Turkey after the catastrophe of 1922; a crossroad between East and West. In our Tekè we propose to find slow rhythms of life and the pleasure of listening together to songs of stories of love cursed, of port and suburban towns; of prisons, gypsies, passion for music, wine and hookah where the rhythms of joy alternate with melancholic melodies and where you can observe with calm and attention the artworks of the best talents of the international underground.
