This week, we highlight Doris Spoerry-Jakob and Miriam O’Brien Underhill — two very different stories that reveal how women have shaped mountain history in visible and invisible ways. ⛰️✨

Doris Spoerry-Jakob stands for the many women who were not climbers themselves, yet still left their mark on the mountain world — in her case through Cerro Doris, named in her honour. 🏔️
Miriam O’Brien Underhill, by contrast, helped transform mountaineering directly, championing all-women rope teams and proving that women could climb independently on some of the Alps’ most iconic peaks. 💪🧗‍♀️

Different roles, different paths — but both are part of the story of how women belong in the mountains. 🤍
