✨ As we get ready to unveil our new display, we’re looking back at the landmark exhibition where it all began: "Primary Structures: Younger American and British Sculptors," presented at The Jewish Museum, New York, in 1966 — a show that brought Minimalism to a wider public.

What had originally been envisioned as a modest review expanded into a concert for 42 voices, uniting the American East Coast and British art scenes and incorporating the experimentations of Californian artists. It was a moment of radical rupture: artists such as Donald Judd, Carl Andre, Dan Flavin, Robert Morris and Sol LeWitt defined a revolutionary aesthetic based on reduction and seriality, rejecting traditional composition in order to elevate pure geometric structure to the role of absolute protagonist.

At the heart of this shift was the idea of the “specific object”: an artwork freed from external narratives and meanings, existing through its physical presence and its relationship with space and the viewer.

On October 17, we will unveil a new display of the Collection, exploring Minimalism as an evolving landscape — from its radical beginnings to the multiple directions it continues to take today. 💛

Sixty years after "Primary Structures: Younger American and British Sculptors", a landmark exhibition held at the Jewish Museum in New York in 1966, a new project celebrates and critically reconsiders the legacy of Minimalism and its influence on contemporary art. Through a selection of works from the Antonio Dalle Nogare Collection, the present show expands the boundaries of minimalist language by bringing together practices that interrogate institutions, memory, identity, ecology, and systems of power, while weaving together light, space, time, and social critique.

An empty, sterile room. At the entrance, fifty masks suspend individual identity, giving rise to a temporary community of nameless faces. At the centre, an isolated chair – a mute symbol of violence and power – commands attention: an object steeped in a long history drawing on both art and death.

The theatrical illusion shatters, and with it, the comforting divide between stage and audience.

Credere alle Maschere [Believing the Masks] reflects the radical vision of , a pivotal figure in contemporary European theatre. It is an experience that offers no sanctuary, compelling participants to confront the accountability of their own gaze.

No answers are provided, for nothing but persistent questions linger, challenging the viewer.

Discover the artists performing at DRAWN TO RISK – House of Performance ✨

Susanna Schoenberg creates performative, cross-media works at the intersection of film, video, installation, and performance. Her practice focuses on translation, reactivity, gestures, the techno-image, and nonlinear narration.

stands for a radical culture of error, experimentation, and improvisation with noise, images, and activism. With GENNARINO’S EARBLEEDING, he showcases a radical performance, inspired by the blood miracle of Saint Gennaro.

is an interdisciplinary artist. His politically inclined practice connects sculpture, installation and performance to critically study power structures, social norms and forms of collective responsibility.

Frranzrrrina ( and Franz Hofer) was born in a tomato field in 2024. Since then, they have experimented with materials, media, their context, and decontextualization. Their performances combine the genius loci with fleeting moments and architecture with emotions, weaving them into unusual contexts.

For , a wooden board serves as a stage for her performance. Here, stories are shared and visually recorded. While one person narrates, the other translates those perceived tales into pictures that are then incised into the wood with a fine carving tool.
