Meet Chandra Banik, our new Gallery Coordinator Chandra Banik at Gallery WHITE.

An emerging curator and practicing artist, Chandra brings together a diverse background in sculpture, art history, and management. Originally from Tripura and now based in Vadodara, she holds a BFA and MFA in Modelling & Sculpture, a Master’s in Art History & Aesthetics from MSU Baroda, and an MBA in Marketing & Entrepreneurship Management.

Her interests span contemporary art, materiality, memory, and lived experiences, with a particular curiosity for the conversations that unfold between artists, artworks, and audiences.

We are delighted to welcome Chandra to the Gallery WHITE team and look forward to the energy, curiosity, and perspective she brings with her.

• Dayanita singh studio Archivio - opening Museo Nazionale Etrusco Villa Giulia on 24th Sept 5-8 pm. What an immense privilege to place my Italian archive of 25 years infront of the Etruscan murals -so finely curated by Andrea Anastasio . We have added two pillars for Rome !. Both in color. People look to India for color and I have always resisted color unless it was essential to the “something else” that photography alludes to. But I seem to have found a way with color in Italy - starting with the Roses that I began photographing to send to and have since got obsessed . leonardosonnoli has yet again produced the incredible graphics for the Rome version. HUMAN TERRAIN | Baroda Annuelle VI (2027)
9 January to 20 February 2027

For this edition of Baroda Annuelle, I have brought together artists whose practices span several decades and generations.

Human Terrain looks at how our individual and collective landscapes shift across time, shaped by memory, identity, politics, place and lived experience.

By bringing different generations into the same conversation, the exhibition hopes to create a layered portrait of the human terrain we inhabit today.

A few glimpses from Legacy in Print: Contemporary Artists Respond to Raja Ravi Varma at Gallery WHITE.

Bringing together 19 artists, the exhibition looks at the enduring legacy of Raja Ravi Varma through contemporary practices and diverse approaches to printmaking. Rather than imitation, these works enter into a dialogue with his imagery, ideas and influence, finding new ways to revisit a visual language that has remained part of our collective memory for more than a century.

• On the 99th birth anniversary of Balkrishna Doshi, the Vastu Shilpa Foundation announces the Balkrishna Doshi: Guru Ratna Award 2026 honouring Leela Samson, in recognition of a lifetime devoted not only to the practice of Bharatanatyam, but to the deeper act of learning, teaching and transmitting knowledge.
Instituted in 2023, the Guru Ratna Award honours exemplary educators in art, design, architecture and culture within the Indian subcontinent whose pedagogical journeys have cultivated not only knowledge but wisdom, sensitivity and transformation in their students. Leela Samson follows Prof. Neelkanth Chhaya (2023), Prof. Jyoti Bhatt (2024) and Prof. Ashoke Chatterjee (2025).
Balkrishna Doshi believed that education cannot be confined to an institution or a curriculum. It was a way of being in the world: an openness to observation, questioning and discovery, requiring in equal measure the courage to go beyond convention and the humility to listen. His idea of a “school without doors” described learning as a lifelong journey, moving freely between the classroom and the world, and between the teacher and the student.

Introducing our India Art Fair 2027 Artist-in-Residence, 𝗔𝗻𝗻𝗮𝗻𝘆𝗮 𝗗𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗮 (अनन्या ढाँडा ).

Annanya, a Baroda-based visual artist, works across soft sculpture, photo-performance, and installation, drawing from inherited memory, materiality, and the intimate dynamics of domestic life.

Working with discarded and found materials and everyday domestic objects, her practice begins with fragments of personal and familial memory. These material encounters become a way of giving form to what is absent, felt, or left unspoken.

Through a language that embodies tenderness, discomfort, humour, and distortion, the artist explores intimate domestic spaces and the mother–daughter relationship, making space for the contradictions embedded within them and making the familiar strange.

We’re excited to support the next chapter of Annanya’s journey through the programme at 2027.
