Today I want to share the story of one of my most special Lapis Lazuli skulls.
Its journey began in the ancient mountains of Afghanistan, where Lapis Lazuli has been treasured for thousands of years. From the time of ancient kings and Egyptian craftsmen, this deep blue stone has been admired for its beauty and associated with wisdom, truth and inner awareness.
From Afghanistan, this beautiful rough stone travelled to India. When it finally came into my hands, I knew I had something special in front of me.
But at that moment, it was only a piece of raw stone.
Slowly, with patience and traditional hand-carving, I began to reveal what was hidden inside it. Day after day, I shaped the face, eyes, nose, jaw and every individual tooth, carefully following the natural character of the stone.
I didn't create its beauty — nature had already created it. I simply revealed it. 💙
Its deep blue colour, natural white patterns and beautiful golden mineral inclusions make every part of this skull unique. No two pieces of natural Lapis Lazuli can ever be exactly the same.
While carving it, I became deeply connected with this piece. Every time I looked at it, I discovered another natural pattern, another shade of blue, another little detail.
Today, after completing its journey from Afghanistan → to India → through the hands of an artisan, this beautiful skull is ready to begin its next journey somewhere in the world.
