We are delighted to invite you to the exhibition preview of our upcoming exhibition, 𝗪𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗕𝗼𝗱𝘆 𝗕𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗻𝘀: 𝗠𝗲𝗺𝗼𝗿𝘆, opening this Saturday, 8 August 2026.

The first chapter of a three-part exhibition, Where The Body Begins: Memory brings together artists born or based in Pune, reflecting on what lingers within places, objects, materials, gestures, and inherited forms. Together, the works trace the body through both tangible and intangible registers, considering how memory inhabits what surrounds us, what we inherit, and what we carry within.

We are delighted to invite you to the opening of 𝗪𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗕𝗼𝗱𝘆 𝗕𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗻𝘀, a three-part exhibition that asks a question rather than offering a definition: Where does the body begin? Opening this Saturday, 8 August 2026, 𝗪𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗕𝗼𝗱𝘆 𝗕𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗻𝘀: 𝗠𝗲𝗺𝗼𝗿𝘆 marks the first chapter of the exhibition. 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗥𝗲𝗺𝗮𝗶𝗻𝘀 𝗧𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿 is a two-person exhibition by Samim Alam Beg and Vivek V C. Bringing together the interdisciplinary practices of both artists, the exhibition refuses to look away. Through their works, it embraces a willingness to stay with what others have moved past, harbouring a quiet patience that understands what endures is rarely what we intended to preserve, and that texture is where time leaves its mark.

Samim Alam Beg’s works are on view at VHC as part of 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗥𝗲𝗺𝗮𝗶𝗻𝘀 𝗧𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿. The exhibition is on view until 1 August 2026.

Alam Beg’s practice began with the small and the overlooked. The vein structure of a leaf, the geometry of a cobweb, forms encountered by chance in the margins of daily life. Over the years, these observations were translated into fired clay, rendered permanent, given a material life they were never meant to have. There is something quietly insistent about this.

Introducing Vivek V C from our ongoing two person exhibition, 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗥𝗲𝗺𝗮𝗶𝗻𝘀 𝗧𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿.

Born in Kannur, Kerala, and currently based in Vadodara, Vivek V C is a visual artist whose interdisciplinary practice encompasses drawing, painting, and mixed media. Rooted in charcoal, watercolour, and textured handmade paper, his work explores memory, folklore, and the spectral through stains, erasures, and fragile surfaces.

Deeply influenced by his grandmother’s ghost stories and her later struggle with Alzheimer’s, Vivek’s ongoing project Grandma’s Nightmare blends personal loss with oral storytelling. His imagery often unfolds in dusk-lit gardens inhabited by animals, hybrid beings, and quiet, unsettling presences.

What Remans Tender is currently on view at VHC and will run until 1 August 2026.

In 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗥𝗲𝗺𝗮𝗶𝗻𝘀 𝗧𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿 what connects the practices of Samim Alam Beg and Vivek V C is a refusal to look away. A willingness to stay with things others have moved past. Both harbour a kind of patience that knows what endures is rarely what we intended to preserve, and that texture is where time leaves its mark.

Fire, for one, is where making begins. For the other, it is where a story has never quite ended.

Vivek V C’s body of work on view at 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗥𝗲𝗺𝗮𝗶𝗻𝘀 𝗧𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿 concerns a fire that happened before he was born at his grandmother’s childhood home. Of everything Alzheimer’s has quietly taken from her, this particular memory has remained, returning with a vividness that seems almost to deepen with time.

In this exhibition, he does not reconstruct the event. Instead, he attends to what lingers around it: walls marked by heat and water, kitchen interiors imagined as strange or partially consumed, ordinary objects that no longer feel entirely ordinary. Working across drawing, photography, print transfer, and stop-motion imagery, he traces how a single remembered moment can slowly colonise the present.

𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗥𝗲𝗺𝗮𝗶𝗻𝘀 𝗧𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿, a two-person exhibition by Samim Alam Beg and Vivek V C, is now on view at VHC. The exhibition continues until 1 August 2026.

An excerpt from the essay written by Shreya Ajmani for the exhibition:

“We do not always know, at the time, which moments will stay with us. A memory of a fire. Branches by the side of a road. We move on, as one does, and yet something in us has already begun the quiet work of holding on, selecting, without quite meaning to, what will be carried forward and what will be allowed to recede.

It is this quality of accumulated retention that seems to run beneath both bodies of work presented in What Remains Tender, though the two artists, Samim Alam Beg and Vivek V C, have arrived at it by rather different means.”

Opening this Saturday, 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗥𝗲𝗺𝗮𝗶𝗻𝘀 𝗧𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿 is a two-person exhibition featuring new bodies of work by Samim Alam Beg and Vivek V C.

Bringing together two distinct practices, the exhibition looks closely at what persists–the traces, textures, and quiet accumulations that time leaves behind. Both artists refuse to turn away from the complexities of their surroundings, holding space for a kind of patience that recognises how what endures is often not what we consciously choose to preserve.
