An endeavor to create a unique space for Arts, MOG will bring together artists, curators, collectors, art enthusiasts, educationists, students and audiences from all walks of life. It will not only be a space for exhibitions, but also organize workshops, residencies, lectures, talks and art courses. MOG will embrace a universal perspective and provide a platform to Indian contemporary artists to s

howcase their works and connect them with international art milieus. MOG is envisioned less as a repository of objects and more as a laboratory of ideas, where various art forms – painting, sculpture, photography, music, theatre, design, video art, films, installations and many others are in constant dialogue with each other. Housed in a 1038 square meters space, designed by Architect Dean D’Cruz, MOG is situated on the Pilerne Plateau in North Goa, not too far from Calangute. The infrastructure for the Museum of Goa has been fully funded by the artist Subodh Kerkar and now we are reaching out to philanthropic partners as well as supporters of art for further funding that will support the functioning and the unfolding of this art space.

Rakesh Sharma’s Final Solution, a feature-length film on the 2002 Gujarat carnage, created history at its 2004 Berlinale premiere by becoming the first and only documentary ever to win the Golden Bear for Best Debut. Though the film was initially denied certification in India, following widespread civil society protests, the Censor Board cleared the film suo moto, without a single cut. Final Solution has been described as “a powerful plea against politics of hate and violence”.

Dr Oscar Rebello is a reputed medical professional, a well-known Goan activist and newspaper columnist.

The post-screening discussion will focus on the deepening faultlines in Indian society and their ongoing and future impact on India’s social fabric, culture, polity and democracy itself.
