Small World. Big Wonder
How about visiting the home of a rail-modeller and discovering a whole universe of skilled hobbies? That’s what a visit to Neverenuf Garden Railway is - a peek into a half a dozen hobbies - regarded as skilled hobbies and meant for grown ups. This miniature world spread over 30,000 sq ft. is a private railroad empire, as they say, and has been in the making since 2010. A most engaging pastime, railmodelling has been around since the age of wind up - tin toys. Today with digital advancements the “scale-models” are more prototypical than ever. And that’s precisely the enjoyable challenge for every rail modeller - how close to realism can he get with his miniature world.
We open our doors on selective days to pre-registered visitors and look forward to sharing our passion and creation. The miniature world can transport the visitors, young and old, into a fantasy world - a world where wind-mills still grind and steam engines hurtle over girder bridges; a world where the circus still entertains with its animals and the castles have their spooky tales to tell. Interactive parents add to the experience of their young ones who are engaged well with remote controlled boats and cars, and several interactive switches which bring the miniature world alive. We also have a small DIY workshop where children often accompanied by their parents, make some miniature stuff to carry back along with them. In addition to all this our “treasure hunt” can be quite a challenge, even for the grown ups. Above all, you get to see the enchanting sights of this miniature world and delve deeper into a railmodeller’s creation through unique interactive ways - that to us should be termed priceless!
However, please do understand that a visit to a Garden Railway will be different than say a visit to an amusement park or a theme park. Some come expecting rides, while others are disappointed by the small size of our home (well, its just an acre). Yet the majority, thankfully enjoy the laid back, “different” experience. It’s also quite common to hear a comparison with the popular tourist attraction in Amsterdam but then there is no comparison between the two - Garden railways abound, the world over and form their own niche. They are a playground for those who are into the hobby or others who are curious and eager to discover something new.
