EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST | ESTABLISHED FOOD & CAFÉ BRANDS

Craft Village, New Delhi, is inviting established food brands, café chains and distinctive hospitality concepts to explore a new destination opportunity within our campus.

Located in South Delhi, within the wider Mehrauli–Chhatarpur–DLF Farms cultural and lifestyle belt, Craft Village is a 25,000 sq. ft. integrated creative campus bringing together craft, art, design, culture and creative enterprise.

We are looking for an established food or café brand to create a distinctive destination experience within the campus, with access to a garden and an environment designed for people to spend time, meet, discover and experience.

This is not a conventional high-street opportunity.
We are particularly interested in brands that can create their own destination audience and see potential in bringing together food, culture, creativity and experience.

If you are an established food brand, café chain, chef-led concept or hospitality group looking for an unusual South Delhi address, we would be pleased to hear from you.

We are looking for Partners!

Craft Village is opening conversations with established art galleries and distinctive food & hospitality brands to create new extensions within our 25,000 sq. ft. integrated creative campus in South Delhi.

Located at–Chhatarpur–DLF Farms inside a cultural and lifestyle belt, the campus offers something increasingly rare in Delhi — a quieter, green, destination-oriented setting where craft, art, design, culture, food and creative enterprise can come together.

We are exploring:

01 | ART

A dedicated gallery space for an established gallery looking to create a Delhi extension, project space, curatorial outpost or new exhibition format.

02 | FOOD

A distinctive café / restaurant opportunity with garden access for an established hospitality brand capable of creating its own destination audience.

We are particularly interested in organisations that are looking beyond conventional commercial locations and are interested in creating an experience, an address and an ecosystem.

If you are an established gallery, restaurant, café, hospitality group or cultural enterprise interested in exploring this possibility, we would love to hear from you.

AN INVITATION TO BUILD SOMETHING DISTINCTIVE

Craft Village is inviting established Art Galleries & Food Cafés to set up their centres at our creative campus in New Delhi.

We are looking to partner with established art galleries and thoughtfully curated food cafés who would like to become part of a distinctive cultural and creative ecosystem at Craft Village.

The idea is not simply to lease a space.

It is to bring together craft, art, design, culture, food and creative enterprise in one environment—creating a destination where people can discover, experience, engage and spend meaningful time.

We are particularly interested in organisations with an established identity, strong curation and a clear vision for building a long-term presence.

If your gallery or café is looking for a distinctive setting in Delhi to establish a new centre, we would be happy to explore a conversation.

A Swadeshi movement in 1905, recognising handloom and power of hand made against the fight for freedom isn’t just a historical event, it is our identity and our purpose with which we walk hand in hand with our weavers.

Apply Now for 5th Batch!

What happens when you put a Fashion Designer, a CSR Head, an Entrepreneur, an NGO Leader, a Craft Brand Founder, an Artisan and a Technology Professional in one room...?

That was the beginning of the Craft Start-Up Deep Dive.

When we started Batch 1, we thought we were building a programme for aspiring craft entrepreneurs.

We were wrong.

By Batch 2, designers, architects and professionals looking to transition into the craft sector joined us.

By Batch 3, participants arrived with businesses, brands, social enterprises and years of experience—but were looking for clarity, strategy and a fresh way of thinking.

Batch 4 surprised us even more.

Alongside entrepreneurs, we had CSR professionals, foundations, NGOs, ecosystem builders, established craft businesses and artisan-led enterprises—all trying to answer one common question:

"How do we create meaningful and sustainable value in the craft sector?"

What emerged was not another workshop.

It became a Strategy Lab.

Participants questioned assumptions, challenged business models, explored new opportunities, identified hidden gaps, built strategic roadmaps and, perhaps most importantly, found collaborators sitting across the room.

No two participants were solving the same problem.
Yet every participant left with greater clarity.

Because the objective has never been to teach crafts.
The objective has always been to help people think differently about crafts.

As we now prepare for Batch 5, we continue to keep the group intentionally small so that every participant receives individual attention and meaningful strategic discussions.

Because sometimes the biggest breakthrough doesn't come from finding the right answer.

It comes from asking a better question.

FINAL CALL | Craft Start-Up Deep Dive Workshop – Batch 4

Over the past three batches, one thing has become abundantly clear.
Most people who enter the craft sector don't fail because they lack passion.
They struggle because they enter with an incomplete understanding of the sector.

Many believe the opportunity lies in making products.
Some think success is about reaching thousands of artisans.
Others believe building a marketplace is the answer.

The reality is far more interesting.

The craft sector today is evolving into a much larger ecosystem encompassing entrepreneurship, sustainability, tourism, cultural economy, material innovation, technology, branding, experiences, CSR, exports, design, and creative enterprise.

That is exactly what this workshop is designed to explore.
This is not a workshop on "how to sell crafts."

It is about understanding what business you are really building, identifying where your strengths lie, and discovering opportunities that most people never consider.

Whether you are:
exploring the craft sector,
already running a craft business,
working with artisans,
part of an NGO or CSR initiative,
a designer, architect, museum professional, researcher, or entrepreneur,
the workshop is designed to help you think beyond conventional approaches and navigate the challenges unique to your own journey.

After three highly successful batches and participants joining from across India, Craft Village is pleased to open registrations for Batch 4 of the Craft Start-Up Workshop.

Most people enter the craft sector with passion.
Few enter with clarity.
Many believe the opportunity lies in products.
Very few understand where the real opportunities exist.

How Crafts Deal With Crisis

Wars came. Empires fell. Borders shifted. Markets collapsed. Machines replaced workshops. Technology changed everything.

And yet...
Millions of artisans continued to practice their crafts.
Why?

Because crafts have never survived in perfect conditions. They have survived because they know how to adapt.

When industrialization arrived, many predicted the end of handloom weaving. Machines were faster, cheaper, and more efficient. Yet handlooms survived by offering something machines could not—authenticity, identity, and human connection.

When resources became scarce in Japan, artisans did something remarkable. Instead of discarding broken pottery, they developed Kintsugi, repairing cracks with lacquer and precious metals. A crisis of damage became a philosophy of beauty.

When conflict and displacement threatened communities, Palestinian Tatreez embroidery became more than decoration. Every motif became a record of memory, identity, and belonging.

After the Nepal earthquake of 2015, traditional woodcarvers, metalworkers, and craftsmen helped rebuild temples, monuments, and livelihoods. The same skills that created heritage became tools for recovery.

Even technology, often seen as a threat, has become an ally. A Rogan artist in Kutch, a weaver in Kashmir, or a basket maker in a remote village can now reach customers across the world without abandoning traditional knowledge.

The pattern is always the same:
The crisis arrived.
The craft adapted.
The tradition endured.

Perhaps that is why crafts continue when so many industries disappear.
Because crafts are not merely products.

They are systems of resilience, carrying knowledge, identity, memory, and purpose across generations.

The most remarkable thing about crafts is not that they are old.

It is that they continue to evolve without losing who they are.

And that may be one of humanity's greatest lessons in resilience.
