Hailing from Kasaragod, Kerala, artist Wilson Souza is an alumnus of Mahalasa College of Visual Arts, Mangalore, and has accumulated numerous accolades over the years.

In his semi-figurative pieces, the artist employs bold and sweeping strokes, utilizing both sponges and brushes to portray the female form, often with a touch of sensuality. By purposefully leaving out facial details, he elevates the enigma of the artworks, directing attention to the body language and posture, which become the focal points for conveying narrative depth.

Born and raised in Lahore, Pakistan, the very talented Madeeha Attari draws inspiration from the 50s Abstract Expressionist movement. She employs contrasting colours, irregular linear forms, and, at times, an aggressive mix of textures for spontaneous personal emotional expression. Her work is often interspersed with multiple layers of gritty paintwork, creating a unique tactile experience.

In this artwork, each circle represents a unique facet of the artist’s psyche, layered upon a textured surface. It is a vivid portrayal of the artist’s inner realm, encouraging observers to delve into their own consciousness using form and color.

This artwork is part of her ‘Chromatic Geometry’ series, where Madeeha explores visual arrangement using the interplay of colours. The artist believes that just as geometric shapes can be arranged to create complex patterns and structures, colours can be organised and manipulated to evoke various emotions, convey narratives, and capture attention.

Shashikant Dhotre’s artworks, created with color pencils and dry pastels, are distinctive. As a self-taught artist, he engraves lifelike images of rural women and their ‘day in a life’ on canvas. His photorealistic portrayal is characterized by intricate details and a beautiful play of light, setting the mood for the vivid colors of traditional Indian fabrics against the somber backdrop of a rural village setting.
