FLEA MARKETS IN ANJUNA.

I loved going to the flea markets in Anjuna in the 80s & 90s. The crowds used to be motley, a true mix of possibly every possible race on the planet. I have personally come across Germans, French, Italians, Brits, Brazilian, etc even Zoroastrians from Iran. Every Guy in the market looked like a Rock star sporting weird hairstyles, tattoos, silver wear, Jean shorts, psychedelic t-shirts, heavy duty boots, etc a truly gypsy world. There were artists selling painting & screen printed t-shirts and there used to be range of other items on sale such as novels, rock & jazz CDs, boots, silver ornaments, etc. Right in the middle of the market there was a restaurant where some guys would jam up and play anything from purple Haze by Jimi Hendrix to my guitar wants to kill your mama by Frank Zappa. My annual trips to Anjuna flea market actually helped me relax to see guys who were not pretentious like most of my colleagues who suffered from severe inferiority complexes. Of course, to be honest to GOD, I wouldn't want to live exactly the way those hippies do and much far less like my wretched colleagues, who are always pretending to be Scientists. 😂 But, once in a while being in that hippie world was really a breathe of fresh air to my gypsy soul.
