Daraz ka kaam is a beautiful dimension to the artistic tradition of Lucknow which is less talked about. It is something which again brings light to the finesse and sophistication of artistry that the city has been carrying with it for years.

Characterised by the use of nearly invisible stitches, daraz-ka-kaam creates a fine, see-through effect by joining two fabric pieces together. Artisans often incorporate muslin cutwork of various shapes within these seams, outlining each form with meticulous hand-stitching.

Qurratulain Hyder personified independence in thought and exhibited it in action. Warm and friendly in demeanour, Hyder was scathingly candid and vocal about her feelings and ideals.

As one of Urdu literature’s most formidable voices, Hyder challenged conventions not only through her personal choices but also through her expansive literary vision. She remains an enduring lens for understanding Lucknow, Awadh, and the women who shaped this region.

Our sixth exhibition, Feminists of Awadh: Tracing Lucknow Through Its Women, attempts to view the city through women like her.

The exhibition is open every day from 1 PM to 10 PM.

What happens when we turn inward and rediscover femininity beyond labels? At Adda Moves, Gurleen Kaur and Prasanna presented an evocative performance that explored feminism not as superiority, but as balance, coexistence, and an essential force within society.

The performance reflected on identity, and existence itself, reminding us that feminism is ultimately about restoring harmony with the self, society, and nature.
