Home, memory, and the quiet distances that shape contemporary life.

In Sanjoy Patra’s practice, the domestic becomes both image and object - a space where stories of belonging, intimacy, and separation unfold. Through modular painted forms and repeated motifs, his works transform everyday spaces into layered narratives of memory and identity.

What appears familiar gradually reveals a deeper reflection on proximity without connection, where homes exist side by side, yet worlds apart.

Artist Krishnal Fulwala's works incorporate architectural structures, layering the painted surface similar to how a built structure is constructed. It formulates a relationship between the elements inside a structure and the ones surrounding it. Having worked mainly with architectural elements, Krishnal draws his inspiration for his intricate work from the miniature and mural traditions of 18th and 19th century India. He uses the technique of "mark-making" whereby different types of lines are overlaid on a particular portion of an existing drawing. At times he employs a number of layers of drawings on each other which creates a mysterious effect as felt on observing a fresco, in which the transparency of one drawing reveals the other underneath.

In the works shown here, Krishnal shows various European styled monuments charted within the confines of Mughal miniatures. In these paintings, Krishnal formulates a relationship between the elements inside a structure and the ones surrounding it. The mystery behind the structural elements - simple linear frames - which gradually result in complex architecture results in a sense of curiosity.

A persistent memory shapes our futures. I am trying to arrive at some clarity by iterating the memory with the multiples of what looks like the same work. The Globe : an indispensable tool for teaching Geography to school and college students. The first
known mention of a globe is from Strabo, describing the Globe of Crates from Mallus, a Greek philosopher, from about 150 BC. The oldest surviving terrestrial globe is the ‘Erdapfel’, made by Martin Behaim in 1492. It was a long journey from globes to flat maps, with many mathematical challenges along the way, and now these series of sculptures take a imaginative leap to visualizing globes as Origami Modular polyhedrons, turning the rare and archival 2d maps back into 3ds of a very different kind, combined with antique silver and gold cardstock papers.
