Some stories are preserved in photographs.
Others live quietly in the people who carry them.
Over the past few weeks, the halls of Jai Vilas Palace have been filled with conversations that remind us why stories matter.
Stories of Gwalior brought together longtime residents of the city, who arrived with old photographs, cherished memories, and countless anecdotes. Together, we laughed, reminisced, and rediscovered moments that have shaped Gwalior across generations.
With Stories of Palace, we turned our attention inward, inviting the long-serving members of the Palace family to share the unseen moments—the behind-the-scenes memories, quiet traditions, and everyday life that have unfolded within these walls over the years.
Each gathering reaffirmed something deeply special: the story of the Palace cannot be told without the story of Gwalior, and the story of Gwalior is, in many ways, intertwined with the Palace. They have grown alongside one another—connected, evolving, and each enriching the other.
At Jai Vilas Palace Museum, we hope these halls continue to be more than galleries. We hope they remain a place where people gather, memories are shared, conversations begin, and the community feels at home.
Thank you to everyone who trusted us with your stories. We can't wait to listen to many more.
