“In this painting, I have tried to capture the timeless beauty and dramatic intensity of Kerala’s ancient art form — Kathakali. Through bold colors and strong expressions, I wanted to bring alive the spirit of the stage, where every glance and every gesture tells a story.

In this painting, I have tried to capture the silent poetry of the Buddha’s soul. His eyes are gently closed, not in sleep, but in deep meditation — a journey inward where all suffering dissolves into peace. The golden hues of his face represent the light of wisdom that shines from within, untouched by the chaos of the outer world.

This beautiful mural painting is a vibrant depiction of Lord Krishna and Goddess Saraswati, two revered deities from Hindu mythology, portrayed in traditional Kerala mural art style.

Lord Krishna (left):
Depicted in his iconic blue form, he is seen playing the flute, symbolizing divine love and bliss.

His crown, jewelry, and garb are intricately designed, emphasizing his celestial and royal nature.

The serene expression and gentle posture reflect Krishna’s charm, wisdom, and the spiritual melody that enchants the universe.

2. Goddess Saraswati (right):
She is the goddess of knowledge, wisdom, music, and arts, shown here playing the veena, her symbolic instrument.

Dressed in elegant attire with detailed jewelry, she radiates grace, intellect, and creativity.

Her presence beside Krishna beautifully blends bhakti (devotion) with jnana (knowledge)—a union of heart and mind.

This stunning and detailed artwork is a representation of Valaba Ganapathi, also known as Valampuri Ganesha—a special form of Lord Ganesha, the remover of obstacles and the deity of intellect, wisdom, and beginnings.

Main Deity – Valaba Ganapathi:

Valaba (or Valampuri) Ganapathi refers to a form of Ganesha where his trunk curves to the right (from the viewer’s perspective, it appears left-curving but it’s actually right from Ganesha’s own side).

This is considered a very powerful and strict form of Ganesha, usually invoked for intense spiritual and Ta***ic practices.

He is richly decorated, wearing an elaborate crown and jewelry, signifying divine royalty and cosmic authority.

Ganesha’s posture is majestic yet approachable, seated in Lalitasana (relaxed pose), exuding both wisdom and power.

Consorts:

He is flanked by Siddhi and Buddhi, his symbolic consorts representing spiritual power (siddhi) and intellect (buddhi).

They hold a lotus and divine implements, and their expressions radiate grace and devotion.

Mouse (Vahana):

At the bottom of the artwork is Ganesha’s vehicle, the mouse, depicted with a decorated saddle and expressive eyes, waiting in servitude. The mouse symbolizes humility and the ability to overcome desires.

This artwork beautifully captures the theme of Radha reminiscing about Krishna, rendered in the traditional Kerala mural painting style, which is known for its vibrant colors, flowing lines, and spiritual expression

Foreground – Radha:
Expression: Radha’s eyes are soft and dreamy, slightly lowered as though she is lost in a tender memory. Her serene smile evokes the sweet pain of love and longing.

Posture & Gesture: She clutches a lotus flower close to her heart—a symbol of divine love, purity, and Krishna himself. Her other hand gently touches her necklace, a subtle gesture of intimacy and remembrance.

Background – Krishna:
Krishna’s form appears ethereal, painted in cool, divine blue tones, almost like a spiritual vision or memory floating behind Radha.

His calm gaze is directed toward her, symbolizing their unbreakable spiritual connection, even in physical absence.

The blue clouds around him represent the subconscious and the infinite love that exists beyond the physical realm.
