National Gallery of Modern Art, Kolkata celebrated International Museum Day 2026 with a series of enriching and engaging programmes at the historic Old Currency Building, Kolkata.
From insightful panel discussions with eminent academicians, museum professionals, researchers, and cultural practitioners, to vibrant student-led creative workshops and competitions, the celebrations reflected the evolving role of museums as spaces of learning, dialogue, artistic expression, and cultural connection.
The occasion featured:
• A Panel Discussion on the contemporary relevance of museums and cultural institutions
• A Printmaking Workshop cm Competition exploring the traditional medium of Woodcut Printmaking
• A Painting Competition for school students on the theme: “Museums Uniting a Divided World”
The programmes were organized under the gracious invitation of Dr. Sanjeev Kishor Goutam, Director General, NGMA | Ministry of Culture, Government of India.
