🌌 What happens when air disappears?

Imagine a world with no air…
No breeze, no sound, and almost no movement.

Air might be invisible, but it plays a powerful role in our everyday lives.

In our Beads in Vacuum exhibit, a fan and tiny beads are placed inside a sealed chamber.
When air is present, the fan pushes the air—and the beads swirl around beautifully. 💨

But the real magic begins when we remove the air…

The fan still spins…
Yet the beads stay completely still.

Why? Because without air, there’s nothing to carry the force.

Even sound works the same way—your voice reaches others only because air carries vibrations.
No air = No sound. 🔇

🌈 One colourful world… but two different ways to create colour.

Have you ever wondered how the colours on your phone screen appear so vibrant, while the colours in paints and printers behave differently?

📱 Screens use the Additive Colour Model
Red ❤️, Green 💚, and Blue 💙 light combine to create millions of colours you see on TVs, smartphones, and digital displays.

🎨 Paints and printers use the Subtractive Colour Model
Cyan, Magenta, and Yellow inks absorb certain wavelengths of light to produce the colours we see on paper.

✨ Light adds colour on screens.
🖨️ Ink removes light on paper.
