the late eighteen and nineteen centuries, executed to underline the power and
continuous patronage of the arts by the Bundi rulers.
The painted scheme is lavish and ornate, with extensive use of gold and tin foil.
Of particular interest is the use of a resinous material as a sealant applied on the polished araish plaster, as well as a mordant and overall coating.

12th-century ancient Shiva temple located within the historic Taragarh Fort in Bundi, recently consecrated in March 2026. The mysterious Shiva lingam, partially subterranean, its tip is visible at the sanctum. The temple has beautiful stonework and carvings, temple columns and fresco motifs reminiscent of classic Rajput architecture.
