Nothing is wasted in nature; everything exists for a reason - even dead stumps. This is the philosophy found in Neelu Chachra's work, especially in the area that has come to be her forte - tree trunk sculptures. Acknowledging that every object has a soul, the artiste needs to first recognize it, and then release its essence. Hidden forms & subtle shapes are spotted and the unnecessary bits chipped

away to reveal what's within. In a way, we are not creating but merely releasing that which is already there. Neelu's work on tree trunks includes an amazing array of creations in myriad forms, her favorites being wildlife, motherhood & relationships. She has worked with different types of wood, grains and techniques. Finally, each piece is unique and cannot be replicated.
