Joseph Bau House - בית יוסף באו - חוג ידידים מוזיאון בית יוסף באו
Joseph Bau Museum We recently discovered that Joseph Bau worked for the Mossad. Joseph never spoke of these activities. Mr. film festivals.

An authentic artist workshop conveys to the visitor the amazing life story of Joseph Bau, reflected in his wide range of creativity, including movies, animation, paintings, graphics, literature, and research of the Hebrew language - all spiced with his special humor stemming from his optimistic view of life. He was recruited to a secret intelligence corps unit that dealt with technical covert oper

ations that utilized his talent for art and graphics. Later, he was transferred, together with other Intelligence Corps personnel, to a similar unit that was formed and worked as part of the intelligence community belonging to the Prime Minister´s office. Bau´s two daughters, Hadasa and Clila, have tried to raise the funds to convert Joseph Bau´s studio into a museum commemorating his holocaust experiences and the artistic and literary works that are the fruits of his very creative life. The studio, under threat of closing, showcases his paintings and works of graphic art, as well as the animation equipment he built himself. It also has a small cinema where he screened the cartoons and movies he produced. How You Can Help

In a break-in that took place at our museum 16 years ago, paintings and unique cameras were stolen. Cameras that our father, Joseph Bau, converted to shoot the animated films he created. Last month one of the paintings was discovered at an auction, and thanks to the article on Ynet about the stolen painting, a friend who knows us and the museum bought the painting for us.
Very moving!
We hope we will find the rest of the paintings and cameras.

בעקבות הכתבה ב-ynet ו"ידיעות אחרונות" על ציור גנוב של האמן יוסף באו, הוא הוחזר למשפחתו. חבר של הצייר רכש אותו במכירה פומבית אליה הגיע במקרה

Here's a way to help save a piece of history — and maybe bring a piece of it home.

The Joseph Bau House Museum in Tel Aviv needs a new home before its building is demolished. Donate to the Save the Joseph Bau Museum campaign this summer, and you're entered to win your choice of one of three matted, signed Joseph Bau lithographs, valued at $500.

More chances to win with a bigger gift:
$100 = 1 chance | $250 = 3 chances | $500 = 6 chances | $1,000 = 12 chances

The winner will be drawn at random on September 1, 2026.

Your donation helps secure the future of Joseph and Rebecca Bau's story — and you just might come home with a piece of their legacy for your wall.

From Montevideo to Tel Aviv, Joseph Bau's story keeps finding new hearts. 💙 History teacher Jimena Machado of Colegio Bilingüe Ciudad Vieja in Montevideo, Uruguay, showed her ninth-grade students the film "Bau: An Artist at War" ("Bau: Artista En Guerra"). What followed was a class exploring memory, human rights, resilience, and art as resistance — and then, letters. Handwritten, personal letters to our founder's daughters, Clila and Hadasa Bau.

One group of students wrote: "Art can be both a refuge and a form of resistance." Another wrote: "Never stop sharing Joseph Bau's story, as it is of great importance to humanity."

Thousands of kilometers from Krakow and Tel Aviv, a new generation of Uruguayan teenagers is carrying "Never Again" forward in their own words. This is exactly why we do this work.

Thank you to Prof. Jimena Machado and to her students — Bianca, Igor, Josefina, Juana, Juan Manuel, Mathías, Natalia, Nicolás, and Olivia — for this gift.

📽️ Are you an educator? We've put together a free Discussion Guide for "Bau: An Artist at War" to help bring Joseph Bau's story into your own classroom: [link in comments]

For 16 years, Clila and Hadasa Bau have been searching for their father's stolen art. https://www.ynet.co.il/news/article/yokra14825345

In 2010, the Joseph Bau House Museum in Tel Aviv was burglarized. Paintings, film reels, and irreplaceable pieces of Joseph Bau's life work vanished. The sisters have spent the years since tracking down what was taken — checking auction listings, visiting flea markets, following up with collectors. One stolen film reel turned up at Jaffa's flea market. Several paintings surfaced with private collectors over the years.

Now another original Joseph Bau painting has appeared at auction — and the sisters have gone to the police to try to stop the sale before it's too late. As Hadasa put it: this isn't just art. It's their family's legacy.

Help us protect what remains of Joseph Bau's story. 💛

🕊️ A Special Invitation to Our Christian Friends Visiting Israel: As tens of millions of Christians around the world join the Day of Prayer for the Peace of Jerusalem on October 4th, we want to extend a personal invitation to those of you who'll be here in Israel — especially if your travels bring you through Tel Aviv.

Come visit us at the Joseph Bau Museum. This was the home and studio of Joseph Bau — a Holocaust survivor who forged documents that saved lives during the Shoah, and who later became one of Israel's pioneering animators. It's also the true love story behind Schindler's List, secretly carried by Joseph and his wife Rebecca for fifty years.

We'd love to welcome you personally, share our father's story, and thank you for standing with Israel.
📍 9 Berdichevsky St. (near Rothschild Blvd.), Tel Aviv
📞 Visits are by appointment — please reach out in advance: Hadasa +972-54-421-2730 or Clila +972-54-430-1499, or email [email protected]

Thank you for your love and support of Israel. We can't wait to meet you.

🇮🇱 More than 70 million Christians from 175 countries are expected to unite on October 4, 2026, in what organizers describe as the largest annual prayer gathering for Israel in history during the 24th Annual Day of Prayer for the Peace of Jerusalem (DPPJ).

Hosted by Eagles' Wings and its founder Bishop Robert Stearns, the event will be broadcast live from the Tower of David Jerusalem Museum and will bring together more than 500 senior Christian leaders from 50 countries in Jerusalem.

The gathering will include official delegations from Nigeria, Kenya, and Togo, featuring senior government officials, the First Ladies of Nigeria and Kenya, and the King and Queen of Togo, highlighting growing international support for Israel.

Also attending will be 175 Latin American Christian leaders, led by Rev. José Wellington Costa Jr., General Superintendent of Brazil's Assemblies of God, a denomination with more than 33 million members that forms part of a global Protestant movement of over 90 million believers in 212 countries. Together, the Latin American delegations represent more than 51 million Christians.

Bishop Stearns said: "This is far more than a prayer event. It is a global declaration that Israel is not alone. At a time when the Jewish people face extraordinary challenges, tens of millions of Christians are choosing to stand publicly with Israel, pray for her peace, and reaffirm the unbreakable bond between our people."
