From Gideon Ofrat’s essay “A Disrupted Ceremony”:
“Social” or “historical” concerns constantly inflect the existential human condition in Zimbalista’s works. The Class (1987), a memorial commemorating the sacrifice of sons, consists of 16 cast heads, most of which appear as death masks on a memorial plaque – a dead family with the heads of three parents affixed to the frame above the
plaque. This series of trophies by a contemporary hunter is concerned with the sacrifice of an entire group or class of masks by a supreme authority, which is represented by the three heads on the frame. The viewer, who is required to raise his eyes to the elevated sculpture,
directs his gaze at the sons, while the paternal heads scrutinize them from above.

ה”חברתי” או ה”היסטורי” פולשים ללא הרף למצב הקיומי האנושי בעבודותיה של
צימבליסטה. הכיתה מ–1987 הייתה אנדרטה לקורבן הבנים. 16 הראשים היצוקים, מרביתם
מסכות–מוות פרונטליות שהודבקו ללוח הנצחה, חָברו למשפחת מתים, שנקבעו בה שלושה ראשי הורים על המסגרת שמעל ללוח. כך נבנה מקבץ ערופים של צייד בן–זמננו. פסל
ה”עקדה” הזה הוא פסל עקדת הרבים, עקדתה של הקבוצה, כיתת המסכות, ביד הסמכות
העליונה, המיוצגת בשלושת הראשים. הצופה, הנדרש להרים עיניו אל הפסל הרם, מישיר
מבטו אל הבנים, שעה שראשי האבות שולחים מלמעלה את עינם הבוחנת.
