Mon-Thurs 10:00-16:30
and Friday 9:00-13:30

From Jerusalem to the nations – one day, one message, one global voice.

At a special event in Jerusalem, ambassadors and representatives from around the world came together to help launch the vision for the upcoming Kotel Global Day of Prayer for Israel, taking place on October 7, 2026.

This historic 24-hour worldwide broadcast will follow the sun across the earth, uniting churches, leaders, and believers from more than 200 nations in prayer for Israel and Jerusalem.

With a vision to mobilize millions across the globe, this initiative is a powerful reminder that friendship, faith, and solidarity can cross borders and bring people together around a shared message of hope.

Irene Gut Opdyke was a young Polish Catholic woman who found herself in the heart of darkness – and chose to act with extraordinary courage.

During World War II, while she was forced to work in the laundry and kitchen serving German officers, she overheard plans for upcoming N**i actions and passed on warnings that saved lives. She then moved from warning to rescue: Irene hid 12 Jews, first in the laundry where she worked and later inside the home of German officer Eduard Ruegemer – right under the N**is’ noses.

Even as the danger grew, she continued to protect, warn, hide, and help people escape. Because of her courage, persecuted Jews found a place of refuge, escaped deportation and death, and were able to rebuild their lives after the war – a living testimony to the power of one human choice in the darkest of times.

Irene Gut Opdyke was later recognized as Righteous Among the Nations – a tribute to a woman who chose humanity where so many were afraid to even look away.

On this day, we remember Lt. Col. John Henry Patterson – a man whose life seemed almost larger than history itself.

He was a soldier, author, adventurer, and a fearless friend of Zion. But above all, he was a commander who stood with his Jewish soldiers when it truly mattered.

During World War I, Patterson led the Jewish Legion – the first official Jewish fighting force under a recognized government in nearly 2,000 years. He proudly called them “my Zionists,” defended them against antisemitism, and risked his own future to make sure they were treated with dignity.

His courage on the battlefield was great – but his moral courage may have been even greater.

Known today as the “godfather of the IDF,” Patterson’s final wish was to rest in the land he loved: Israel.

Honoring a True Friend of Israel

We were deeply honored to host the President of the Republic of Somaliland, H.E. Abdirahman Mohamed Abdillahi, at the Friends of Zion Heritage Center in Jerusalem to present him with the prestigious Friends of Zion Award.

Presented by FOZ Founder Dr. Mike Evans, the award recognizes President Abdillahi's leadership, courage, and the historic decision to open Somaliland's Embassy in Jerusalem.

"This award symbolizes the growing friendship and strengthening ties between Somaliland and Israel," stated President Abdillahi.

Dr. Mike Evans praised the President’s vision and announced his intention to advocate for formal U.S. recognition of Somaliland, adding: "Somaliland has shown genuine friendship toward the Jewish state."

President Abdillahi joins an esteemed group of world leaders who have received this honor for standing firmly with Israel. We look forward to a future of deep cooperation, mutual respect, and lasting friendship!
