A super full length late C19th ebonised crutch mirror, with original heavy glass plate and nice areas of wear and texture to the finish. This was probably made for and used in a haberdashery / outfitters due to the relative plainness of the finish and form, but would be a great piece for home or commercial use. The mirror detaches from the base so could just be used on its own too!

A pair of charming naive oil on canvas paintings of Dalkey Island and Killiney Beach, signed Valentine Gordon, and dated 1913. Both very well presented in their original fames, each with interesting little details such as a nun reading by the harbour side in the first, and a distant trail of steam from the train approaching Bray town in the second. The paintings have some discolouration from the old varnish which could be removed, but does give them an atmospheric feel.

SOLD An unusual early C20th bell box, no idea what the numbers corresponded to, but there were nine of them! Nicely worn ebonised frame and box, and it has a cool look with just the numbers framed by the black glass.

SOLD “ Keen’s the word for it “! A great looking original large showcard for Keen’s mustard, dating to c.1890, showing a bekilted Scotsman holding onto his tin of mustard in spite of a “ keen “ north wind! I can’t find another copy of this image anywhere, indicating some rarity. The back of the card was obviously reused at a slightly later date as it has a block typeface advertising poster also for Keen’s mustard and other products at their shop in Garlick Hill, London ( image 4 ). Two pieces of antique advertising in one! Although complete and not cut down, the condition shows some water and surface damage, but still displays well.

SOLD Two lovely original pieces of C19th Irish Killarney ware, a book box with an image of Muckross Abbey on one side, and a floral design on the other, and a very sweet vesta case with a stylised harp on one side, and a three leaf shamrock on the other. Both principly made from arbutus wood, with simple marquetry inlay using holly and possibly mahogany, to which some pin dyed detail and text has been applied. These were made in the Killarney area during the c19th as the area underwent a surge in tourism and were most likely sold in shops and by the roadside to visitors. They have a lovely aged colour, and the imagery has a beautiful naive folk art feel.
