Irish weather got me like.

The post-show void is real and
nobody talks about it.
You spend months making
something. You put it in a room.
People come, they look, they feel
things. Then it’s over.
And you go home to a studio that
suddenly has no purpose and a
brain that has no idea what comes
next.
I used to think this meant
something was wrong with me.
Now I think it might be the most
important part of the process —
the space between one thing and
the next.
I’m in it right now. And for the
first time, I’m not trying to rush
through it.

Six months of painting. One
collection. Four weeks.

I’ve been sitting with this for a few
weeks now the strange mix of
pride and emptiness that comes
after a show closes. The work that
lived in my studio for months
found new homes. The walls are
bare again.

This collection was the most
honest work I’ve ever made.
Figurative, intimate,
uncomfortable in the best possible way.

I finished a collection. I had a
solo show. And then I sat in my
studio and felt completely, utterly
lost.

Nobody tells you about the quiet
that comes after. The show closes,
the work goes home with
strangers, and you’re left
wondering — who am I as an
artist when there’s nothing to
finish?

I’ve decided to stop pretending I
have it figured out. This is a
weekly series where I show up
honestly — in the mess, in the
not-knowing, in the making.
