We’re delighted to announce that Miriam Fitzgerald Juskova is our Featured Artist for September.
Known for her distinctive Paper on Edge works, Miriam creates three-dimensional wall pieces from hand-cut and folded paper. Drawing on traditional quilling together with her love of geometry and mathematics, she builds intricate patterns that have real depth, rhythm and movement — each piece the result of hours of precise cutting, folding and assembly.
Among the beautiful selection now in the gallery is this trio of hearts:
💛 Yellow Heart
❤️ Red Heart
💙 Blue Heart
From a distance they read as joyful, graphic hearts. Up close they reveal a world of tiny geometric forms standing on edge, catching the light and shifting as you move.
Come and see them in person at The Gallery Kinsale this month. Enquiries welcome.

New work by Ann Flynn ARSMA has arrived at the gallery ☀️🌊
Three original oils that do what Ann does best: catch the dazzle of Irish summer light on wet sand, water and sun-warmed skin. A child absorbed in the shallows. Two small figures heading for the sea with a yellow bucket. Another stooped over the sand, bucket in hand, as if the whole afternoon still lies ahead.
Ann paints those fleeting beach hours we all remember — the glow through a plastic bucket, the long shadows, the sparkle on the water — with lively brushwork and that contre-jour light that has become her signature. Recently elected Associate Member of the Royal Society of Marine Artists in London, she remains one of the artists collectors come to Kinsale to find.
Now on view at The Gallery Kinsale, Short Quay.

We were so delighted to welcome our Artist of the Month, Nathan Neven, to the gallery as he delivered a wonderful selection of new works! 🎨✨
It was a real joy to have Nathan here in person, walking us through his latest pieces – from the playful New York street scenes with ostriches and yellow cabs, to the dreamy flamingo interiors, and those fantastic Cork cityscapes with elephants and stags. His signature blend of urban life and wildlife is pure magic.
Come and see them all for yourself at The Gallery Kinsale – Nathan’s work is full of colour, energy and that wonderful sense of fun we love.
Looking forward to sharing more of his brilliant paintings with you this August!

Today, the Updown Circus Festival paid a most unexpected yet thoroughly welcome visit to The Gallery Kinsale. Leggy Lidija, poised upon her stilts, brought a touch of theatrical grace to Short Quay. With sunlight streaming past the gallery windows, she presented a living tableau that seemed to step from the realm of performance into our own collection — a striking fusion of circus artistry and fine-art surroundings.
One might observe that the experience was distinctly elevated, both in stature and in spirit. We extend our sincere appreciation to the Kinsale Arts Weekend organisers and to Lydia for bringing such pageantry to the streets of Kinsale. It is not every day that our historic facade becomes the stage for such whimsical brilliance.
We invite our followers to share their own encounters with the Updown Circus Festival in the comments below.

**Kinsale Arts Weekend** is in full swing this weekend, bringing a vibrant wave of creativity to the heart of the town.

Adjacent to the gallery, the area is a hive of artistic activity as part of the official art trail. A striking interactive wall invites visitors to paint freely and leave their personal messages, contributing to a collective installation 😎

This evolving mural offers a wonderful opportunity for the community and visitors alike to engage directly with the artistic spirit of the weekend. Whether you add a simple mark or a more considered contribution, your participation helps shape this shared work of art.

We encourage everyone to visit, explore, and take part in this unique experience during Kinsale Arts Weekend.🎭

An interesting read in The Art Journal this week on whether Cork can build an art market to match its cultural ambitions.
One major omission stands out: The Gallery Kinsale — Munster’s largest commercial art gallery — isn’t mentioned at all.
For 20 years, The Gallery Kinsale has been a consistent, successful, purely commercial operation (not a co-op or charity) dealing exclusively in Irish Fine Art in Kinsale. It represents leading names including Philip Gray, Róisín O’Farrell, Vincent Devine and many others, with both strong in-person and online sales.
More importantly, the gallery has been instrumental in building Kinsale’s reputation as a destination for serious Irish art. By attracting high-quality artists and collectors to the town over two decades, it has helped create the cluster of galleries and art activity that exists there today.
While the article rightly discusses the challenges facing Cork’s commercial scene, overlooking the county's most established and influential commercial gallery gives an incomplete picture and in fact reinforces the authors point that,, 'there is a broadly acknowledged gap in awareness, arts-based education and a culture of art collecting locally'.
We proudly continue to play our part in representing and showcasing some of Irelands leading visual artistic talents for our in gallery and online visitors, whilst aiding to bridge that gap in awareness.
A notable absence in a thoughtful piece.

The Art Journal is digital-first, English-language publication designed to make the art market legible.
