No Halloween celebration would be complete without some spooky stories! We are delighted to welcome back the renowned storyteller Eddie Lenihan next week. 🍂 For all those brave enough for some terrifying tales, Mr. Lenihan will join us on Tuesday with two storytelling sessions at 12.30pm and 2pm in the Glass house.

In light of the unsettled skies and windy atmosphere this coming weekend, our resident ghosts have decided to find a new HAUNT... the site of our old gift shop!

Introducing... 💀 THE ROOM OF DOOM 💀 Our brand-new, weather-proof screech-fest, which will be open for the duration of our Halloween festivities here at Vandeleur Walled Garden & Visitor Centre.

🕸️ Open daily from Saturday, October 24th to Saturday, October 31st

This haunting new experience is packed with scares, surprises and things that go bump in the night. So stop by and stay awhile... if you dare! 😈

🎃 Halloween in the Haunted Garden: Saturday, October 24th to Saturday, October 31st 🎃

🍂 From October 24th, join us in our Haunted Garden for a spooky Screech Walk—a spine-tingling, interactive mystery trail where you can dress up and amble down haunted pathways while trying to solve the Grim Garden Secret. Don’t forget to pick up your spooktacular activity sheet at the entrance to keep track of all the clues! There will also be Halloween-themed activities peppered throughout the week! While fancy dress isn’t compulsory, it is highly encouraged. We can’t wait to see how creative you get with your costumes!

🕯️ Throwback Thursday: The Chronicles of Kilrush Revisited: Local History and Lore with Noel Kilkenny

This Halloween season, we're taking you on a journey to visit the Vandeleur Mausoleum, where the powerful (and infamous) Vandeleurs of Kilrush were laid to rest. Only a five-minute walk from Vandeleur Walled Garden, this mausoleum houses the remains of Colonel Crofton Moore Vandeleur and his kin, the former landlords of the area, whose legacy is steeped in both influence and infamy. 📜

In this episode, we tell the story of Colonel Crofton Moore Vandeleur, notorious for evicting over 1,000 families during the Great Famine. Some say that if the Vandeleurs could witness the Ireland of today, they’d be turning in their graves...

Curious to learn more? Step inside our Visitor Centre and discover the fascinating history of Kilrush.

🎃 Join us at the Vandeleur Walled Garden & Visitor Centre this Halloween season for our second edition of the Arts & GASPS Workshop! Back by popular demand, this workshop blends creepy with creativity! 🕷️ Children can design and paint their very own ceramic pumpkin masterpiece in a fun, festive setting.

📍 Workshops run from Monday, October 26th to Friday, October 30th
📅 Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday | 🕙 11am & 3pm
📅 Thursday | 🕙 11am, 1pm & 3pm
🎟️ €10 per child
