New exhibition now on!

We are delighted to present an exhibition of the final paintings of Jerry Marjoram (1936-2024), now on in The Kenny Gallery and online.

The exhibition, which comprises over 40 landscapes for sale, marks a return of Jerry’s work to Kennys and is a celebration of the life and work of an artist whose paintings continue to resonate with those who know and love the Irish landscape.

Born in Dublin’s Liberties in 1936, Marjoram developed his love of painting under the guidance of Maurice McGonigal and Seán Keating at the College of Art. From those early years grew a lifelong commitment to landscape painting.

Over time, the West of Ireland, particularly Connemara, became central to his practice. Its boglands, rivers, mountains and coastal waters offered an enduring source of inspiration for Jerry, and he returned to these places again and again.

'Jerry Marjoram from the Artist's Studio' runs at The Kenny Gallery until the 22nd of September. Admission is free and all are welcome. The paintings are all for sale.

Today, we bid farewell to Paul Guilfoyle, a remarkable Irish landscape painter and a valued friend of the Gallery.

Though born far from the western seaboard, Paul found enduring inspiration in the landscapes of Connemara and west Mayo, places first encountered during childhood holidays and returned to throughout his life. He often spoke of the dramatic play of sunlight across the rugged landscape, a memory that remained at the heart of his work. It was this pursuit of light - its movement, atmosphere and transformative power - that became the defining focus of his paintings.

Before dedicating himself to art full-time, Paul worked as a financial controller in County Laois. When painting became his life's work, he developed a distinctive and unmistakable style, combining bold, confident brushwork with a keen sensitivity to the changing Irish landscape. His paintings celebrated nature without sentimentality, finding beauty in clarity, light and quiet observation.

Paul exhibited widely throughout Ireland, and it was a privilege for us to present his work and share it with so many collectors over the years. His exhibitions at the Gallery reflected not only his exceptional talent but also his deep affection for the West of Ireland and the places that shaped his artistic vision.

As we remember Paul today, we do so with gratitude for his friendship, his generosity, and the lasting beauty he leaves behind. His paintings will continue to bring light to those who encounter them.

Rest in peace, Paul.

A lovely launch event here today of Ómós - an exhibition of artworks by Gertrude Degenhardt, with the official opening made by Tom Kenny. We had sunshine, great art, cold wine, memorable speeches and locals and friends meeting up. What could be a better way to kick off our weekend and this year's Galway International Arts Festival! The show runs until August 18th.

Gertrude Degenhardt has been a friend of Galway and of Kennys for many decades, and we are thrilled to be opening this exhibition of over 50 of her artworks today, to celebrate her life's work in the year after her death.

The life and work of German artist Gertrude Degenhardt is being celebrated in an exhibition which opens in Galway City tomorrow.

Gertrude Degenhardt Exhibition Online Now!

'Ómós' - the new exhibition of more than 50 works by German artist Gertrude Degenhardt, is online and hanging in The Kenny Gallery now! Presented in association with the Galway International Arts Festival 2026, Ómós brings together original brush drawings, works in gouache and ink, and a selection of her distinctive graphics. ​This exhibition celebrates her life's work, in the year following her death.

Opening event this Saturday! Join us at Kennys this Saturday July 11th from 3pm, to mark the launch of 'Ómós' - an incredible exhibition of artworks by the marvellous Gertrude Degenhardt.

This exhibition is part of this year's Galway International Arts Festival, and celebrates Gertrude's life's work. She first came to Ireland in the late 1970s while researching illustrations for a German-language edition of O’Flaherty’s short stories set on the Aran Islands. That visit marked the beginning of a long relationship with Galway and the West of Ireland.

Presented in the year following her death in November 2025, this exhibition offers an opportunity to encounter the work of an artist whose imagination moved between satire and lyricism, observation and invention, and whose long engagement with Ireland formed one of the defining threads of her career.

All are welcome to join us this Saturday at 3pm, when Tom Kenny will launch the show. It will then run in The Kenny Gallery until August 18th. The artworks are for sale and admission is free.
