📣 Don't forget today is MUSEUM LATES day, check out the entertainment we have lined up for you!

🎶Lúan (Lúan de Búrca) is a folk musician based in Galway City
🕕 6PM

Lúan mixes traditional influences with a rock and metal background and has a bilingual set of lesser-known folk tunes which he has honed through many years of playing regularly on the Galway Trad and Folk circuit. Lúan plays the bouzouki and sings in English and as Gaeilge.

🎭Letters to Ireland – The Emigrant Experience in Their Own Words

This is a powerful performance inspired by thousands of surviving letters written by Irish emigrants to America during the 19th and 20th centuries, presented in partnership with the University of Galway.

This special initiative is funded by the Department of Culture, Communications and Sport and Galway City Council.

📣 Visit the Earth Action exhibition at Galway City Museum as part of this year's Galway Climate Inspirations Festival, 24 - 28 June 2026 🌤️🌍

Created by Melanie Lynch, Earth Action invites visitors to move beyond climate anxiety and towards inspired action. Combining science-based calls to action, artworks by Róisín Coyle and Eugene McKeown, and insights from the Galway City Council climate team, Earth Action connects local stories—including Galway’s rising sea levels and woodland restoration initiatives—to the broader movement for climate resilience.

A powerful reminder that while the challenges are real, so too is our capacity to respond with creativity, community, and action.

Melanie Lynch is the Founder of HerStory and Our Story, a visionary communications consultancy in service to people and planet. She is an award-winning Irish storyteller, curator, and social innovator, with almost 20 years’ experience delivering world class communications and pioneering education programmes that open hearts and minds. In 2025 she was nominated to become a National Geographic Explorer, and she was awarded a Master’s degree in Design Thinking for Sustainability from the UCD Innovation Academy.

Join us this Thursday, 25 June for the first of our new Museum Lates events, with the Museum remaining open until 9pm. Admission is FREE!

Alongside extended access to our exhibitions and galleries, visitors can look forward to special musical and theatrical performances.

Visit EARTH ACTION, a new climate-focused exhibition at Galway City Museum, showcasing how local communities can make a positive impact on global environmental challenges.

Created by Melanie Lynch, Director of OurStory and featuring art works by Galway artists Róisín Coyle and Eugene McKeown, the exhibition brings together local stories, community initiatives and practical ideas for change. Through engaging displays and creative interpretation, visitors are invited to reflect on their own role in creating a more sustainable future.
