Bainnlann Chúil na nGabhar
Dánlann is Seodiocht
66 O’Connell St., Dungarvan. Originally a grocery/dairy where fresh cow’s milk was sold from the
churn before the advent of glass milk bottles (or pasteurisation).
‘Coolnagour (or The) Dairy’; the genesis of the nameplate goes back to 1955,
the combination of Bainn(e, milk) & Lann (house) translating ‘Dairy’. And anglicised local placename ‘Coo

lnagour’ restored to Irish—
C(h)uil (a sheltered haven/nook) na nGabhar (for goats) -
(in early Irish gabhar/gabar/gobar meant horse also)
