With the support of its active membership of over 400 independent photographers, the Museum serves as a resource base and informal meeting point for everyone interested in photography. Members of Photo Museum Ireland receive:

Discount on all Museum courses
Priority booking for events
Invitations to at least 3 private views per year
5% discount in the Museum bookshop

Corporate members receive:

all of the above plus invitations to each private view

🕞 Morning workshop (11am - 2pm) - Lumen Printing
Explore the camera-less techniques of lumen prints using expired photographic paper, plant materials, and the power of the sun.

🕞 Afternoon workshop (2.30pm - 4.30pm) - Intro to Developing Prints with Plants
Learn how to process film photography using a plant based developer. Negatives will be digitally scanned so participants will have a paperless copy of their images to cherish.

This Culture Night, join us for free guided tours of our current exhibition, Robert Ellis: The Forbidden Sun

In this major new body of work, Ellis creates haunted landscapes, evoking the experience of growing up q***r and closeted in rural Ireland. Discover the exhibition with our team and learn more about the ideas and personal experiences that have shaped the work.

📸 Creative Digital Photography Level 1 is back this Saturday at Photo Museum Ireland.

A full day of practical, hands-on learning designed to give beginners real confidence with their camera – and a much stronger understanding of how to make the photographs they want to make.

Led by photographer Myles Shelly, the workshop covers aperture, shutter speed, light, movement and composition through guided exercises and direct feedback. You’ll leave with a clearer grasp of your camera, stronger creative instincts and techniques you can keep using long after the workshop ends.

Suitable for beginners. All camera types welcome.

Shane Hynan's photographic exploration of peatlands, landscape and community has had a fantastic response from our visitors. We're delighted to connect this important work with even more people across the country, as it embarks on a nationwide tour - kindly supported by The Arts Council Touring Award.

Our Dementia friendly tour of The Forbidden Sun by Robert Ellis is now open for booking!

Led by an Azure-trained guide, people living with dementia are invited to experience a new exhibition, The Forbidden Sun by Robert Ellis, through a relaxed and supportive exhibition tour. Together with family, friends and carers, visitors will have time to view and discuss selected works at a comfortable pace, with no previous knowledge of photography or art required.

Thrilled to announce the Shortlist for our Sigma Talents Artist Awards 2026-27

The shortlisted artists are: Adam Tucker, Aisling O'Donovan, Alannah Ní Ghríobhta, Alexander Healy, Benjamin O'Dwyer Curtin, Darragh Hickey, Dylan Larkin, Eimear Dowling, Kate Crowley, Keelah Malcomson, Killian Browne, Kyra King McGee, Mason Shevlin, Nuala Kerrigan, Paddy Kiernan, Patrick Zaidan, Roisin Cork, Sally Ryan, Siobhan Rafter, Sofia De Rosa, Susannah Williams, Taryn Barling.

The Photo Museum Ireland Sigma Talent Artist Awards is a mentorship residency programme providing essential curatorial guidance and resources for the most promising photography graduates as they embark on their artistic careers. Over the course of this year-long programme the recipients will have an opportunity to create new work with ongoing support from our expert curatorial team and selected guest mentors, supported by Sigma. As part of Sigma's ongoing global commitment to supporting creative excellence and expanding the boundaries of photographic expression, the three selected artists will receive €2000 development bursaries and exclusive access to professional-grade Sigma equipment to support the production of their work.
