Our focus is on the fantastical, the erotic and the macabre; on alternative desire and tormented bodies; on the bizarrely beautiful, the unsettling and the grotesque. Art that will question and entertain. Our intent is to facilitate, curate and showcase new alternative work from emerging Irish artists and to host visiting artists from the global community. Data Afterlife explores the transformation of obsolete media into new living forms. Using discarded audio and VHS tapes—once carriers of memory, voice, and image—knitted into sculptural structures and combined with upcycled glass, the work reimagines waste as a vessel of continuity. The installation reflects on sustainability not only as material reuse, but as a poetic act of preservation and metamorphosis.

At its core, the exhibition questions what happens to information once its original function ends. Just as magnetic tapes once stored fragments of human experience, the work draws a parallel with the human condition—inviting reflection on the afterlife of memory, the soul, and the traces we leave behind. Through light, sound, and movement, Data Afterlife becomes a space where discarded matter is reactivated, suggesting that nothing truly disappears, but instead transforms into new states of presence.

Ziggurat, by (extract)

The power of something new and what it leaves behind. Ziggurat is a film piece that really should not be defined by words already used. This was a submission to last week's "Speak of the Devil" film festival that immediately impressed all of the judges for its beautiful monochrome world, enriched in an atmosphere of experimental filmmaking so fresh and unique in its own right that it leaves an impression upon you that will last through the echos of time. Ziggurat should be studied as a piece of art for next generation filmmakers and artists. You can call it the breaker of the copy and paste era of filmmaking.

We at GalleryX were shocked to learn of Max's untimely passing at the very young age of 20. This could be one of the last works by this extraordinarily talented filmmakers and it already shows what could have been.

GalleryX and the curators of the film festival – .youngv - extend our deepest condolences to Max's family and friends for this untimely loss.
