While this is happening, Scratch Films is making a two-part documentary series for RTÉ One and is also providing digital materials about this work, to be published at a future date on RTÉ platforms. Ireland is commemorating a revolutionary period in it’s history, a period that defined the shape and course of the twentieth century here. Through the stories remembered by families and communities, we can preserve a record of our oral history for present and future generations to learn from. We believe that, by studying the past and it's legacies, we can understand the world around us in a better way. The social and political upheavals of this period profoundly affected the lives of many families and communities. By inviting Irish people to tell of the involvement of their own families and local communities during this period of our history, we are creating an important archival resource for future generations, while giving an RTÉ audience a greater insight into independent Ireland.
