Steam Sunday continues this weekend.

Come down to the railway museum for a journey through time along a section of the original Cavan and Leitrim narrow gauge railway.

Your visit includes a steam hauled train trip and guided tour of the museum of transport exhibits.

On Sunday we will be open from 13:00 to 16:30, there is no need to book.

On Sunday we had A lovely visit from the North West Vintage and Heritage Club.

We had our 1908 Steam Locomotive "Nancy" in action complete with sunshine all day.

There were 40 + vintage cars lined up in the car park outside, including some very interesting types.

'Mini Railtour': Sunday 9th August.

We're heading to the Cavan & Leitrim Railway again, this time for a dose of diesel. We will travel from Dublin Connolly to Dromod on the 09:05 service train to Dromod. There, the Cavan and Leitrim Railway Museum will be running some special diesel services, using ex-Bord na Móna traction, prior to opening to the public for their main running day.

We will return to Dublin on the afternoon service train, departing Dromod at 14:04 for an expected arrival in Dublin Connolly at 16:12.

This day two years ago our Hunslet locos arrived at Dromod. After many years of negotiations the railway purchased two Hunslet diesel locos from Bord na Mona. Micheal and Darragh travelled across the country to retrieve them.

LM340 a wagonmaster diesel mechanical loco was recovered from Kilberry Bog in County Kildare. It represents the original wagonmaster design, synonymous with the peat hauled trains across the once wide spread system.

LM384 is a diesel hydraulic loco, and represents the next generation of peat haulage from the wagonmaster type. These locos were designed with hydraulic transmission. LM384 became quite a travelled loco operating across Offaly, Laois, Longford, Roscommon and even Kerry!

Thank you to Kevin Skinner for bringing flowers to the platform at Dromod, they got their fair share of water today! They definitely add some summer colour to the platform.

Hard to believe this was seven years ago!

How time flies!

Nancy has continued her journey and is currently at Ballinamore South Leitrim West Cavan Vintage Club.
