Inishowen Bogwood Sculptures Inishowen Bogwood Sculptures by Mary Doherty
Unique sculptures and jewellery, commissions welcome. http://www.inishowenbogwoodsculptures.com/

These beautiful sculptures have been hand carved from 6000 year old bogwood excavated from the boglands of Inis Eoghain. Each piece is unique, developed by the artist, Mary Doherty. It may have spent hundreds of years lying on top of the ground. These sculptures have been carefully coated with beeswax and require no further polishing or care. "I worked in my kitchen initially and then when I saw t

he prospect of turning my work into a business, I moved to the workshop. I then was encouraged to exhibit at a local craft fair. From there, I went on to exhibit in Derry, Dublin, Galway, Boston, New Jersey and other places. As the business developed I found it important to display the work in a gallery I built beside my home. The gallery is open daily and I welcomes everyone to come and view my work. Since October 2014 I have launched my website to allow everyone to view my work and enable them to make a purchase from the comfort of their own home."

Inishowen Bogwood Sculptures 🪵

Mary Doherty’s Inishowen Bogwood Sculptures, based in Bocan, Donegal, transform ancient bogwood into stunning, one-of-a-kind artworks. Her process is intuitive, allowing the natural grain, knots, and curves of the bogwood to guide the design of each sculpture. This approach results in stunning, one-of-a-kind artworks that capture the spirit of the land and its ancient history.

Location: Bocan, Culdaff, Ireland - F93 E635
