Built in 1824, Women, men and children were imprisoned here for various crimes and some were held here before Transportation to Australia. During the early 20th Century, Political prisoners were kept here during the Irish Civil War. Under 18s must be accompanied by an Adult. Please see our website for most up to date information.

On this day in 1861, 'The Sun' newspaper in London reported statistics on crime in the three Kingdoms. Female crime was rising in Ireland and they report a woman prisoner in Cork City Gaol, incredibly, on her 66th imprisonment!
