Some photos from Friday’s award ceremony, with the special guests of honour the three remaining villagers - Brendan Farragher, Eileen Lydon and John Joe Mullins - who were in the movie and involved in the filming. Wonderful speeches given by Professor Des MacHale the world’s leading expert on The Quiet Man, David Collins renowned film producer who unveiled the plaque on behalf of the European Film Academy, Councillor Damien Ryan, Rose Conway-Walsh TD and Keira Keogh TD, with the star of the show Rev. Diane Matchett who performed the Isle of Innisfree, accompanied by Stephen Murphy.
