’The sea is my back garden the landscape that seeped into my bones from childhood, inspiring my adult eyes to frame, my adult hands to form and fix in porcelain the essence of my heart’s domain’ – Sara Roberts

Sara makes the most exquisite porcelain seascapes, ferns and flower pouches – they are a joy to behold.

It took Grace time to put down roots, but a derelict blacksmith’s forge and cottage finally captured her heart. To her, home is more than a place — it is stability, love, warmth, memories, and hope for the future. Whether grand or modest, permanent or passing, home shapes who we are.

From the former forge, now a contemporary fused glass studio, Grace creates hand-crafted glass designed to bring something special to every home.

Fused glass, also known as kiln-formed glass, is made by cutting, grinding, and layering specialist sheet glass before heating it in a kiln to around 800°C, where it melts and fuses together. The glass is then slowly cooled (annealed) for strength. The process takes between 13 and 72 hours and requires patience — and a little belief in magic!

Tinnakeenly Leathers is a family run business since 1970. Humphrey Murphy now runs the company founded by his parents. He studied leather work in Cordwainers College London and then worked with designer Bill Amberg in Notting Hill London. He returned home to Ireland and the family busines in 2001. Since then he has been working in the company developing new designs and styles.

Remembering our lovely friend and exceptional artist John Lauder Davies who has sadly passed away this week. With sincere condolences to all his family and many, many friends.
These pictures were taken at the opening of a solo show in the gallery marking his 70th birthday…with that fab cake made by fellow artist and friend Mia Carney.

Big Metal London is a London-based jewellery brand with a long heritage and a strong commitment to sustainability. Founded by James McGrath, the brand began over 30 years ago following his time working with artisan communities in Papua New Guinea, where he first discovered a passion for jewellery making.

After returning to London, James began creating jewellery in a small workshop before establishing a successful stall at Portobello Market. His work later gained international attention when Jean‑Paul Gaultier commissioned him to design jewellery for the film The Fifth Element.

Today, Big Metal London designs its collections in-house in London, combining contemporary fashion with responsible production. The brand prioritises recycled materials, including upcycled resin made from discarded sunglasses frames, recycled brass, and recycled castings for its silver and gold-plated pieces.

At the heart of Big Metal London is the belief that jewellery should be not only stylish and expressive, but also created with care for both people and the planet.

Function – Meaning – Feeling

’My pots are made with great pleasure for you to enjoy with the people you love. Their design is carefully chosen to be extremely functional and suitable for any style of house, appealing to both genders and able to stand the test of time.

I constantly absorb the beauty of my natural surroundings and while my hands work the clay, thoughts about mankind and our life on earth arise. I infuse my pots with these thoughts by using symbols and patterns embedded on the clay. These symbols and patterns speak to us at a subconscious level of ancient wisdom. My pots bring the essence of the natural world into your home and are made to withstand the ware and tear of everyday use.’ Vale Van Der Merve.

Vale is from South Africa originally but we are lucky she and her family relocated to Ireland a few years ago. We love having her beautiful work here in The Narrow Space.
