Footage from May 1989 from Tuam and Claremorris capturing 055 arriving into Tuam to bring Westrail coaching stock 3205 & 1905 to Claremorris to utilise the freight gantry and facilitate a bogie swap. This photo was taken by David Dawson. It’s great to see O55 in action especially on this occasion. This appeared in Railways Present and Past. I am delighted to have the signs which hung in Galway Railway Station up in the Museum. They were put up by Jarek and the ladder was kindly lent by local builder Gerry Flanagan. I was also very grateful to John & Lily Murphy for offering us the shed to restore all the signs. Jarek cleaned them up and leaving them the way they were. I remarked they put the best of material into things that time.

These are a few random photographs that I photographed recently in the North of Ireland. The first place I visited was Headhunters Barbershop and Railway Museum. Congratulation on winning the award “ I Love Your High Strert Award” I always recommend it as thee place to visit with the finest collection of Northern Railway Memorabilia in the Country. It will be kept intact for future generations to see DV
I take my hat off to Selwyn Johnson a young man who devoted his life to putting it together. It’s magnificent and surely worth a visit.

The Showmans Living Van has Arrived in Dromod from the Cullagh Family in Horse and Jockey Co. Tipperary
I congratulate Michael Kennedy for going to the trouble of organising to have it transported to Dromod, this was not an easy task. I always quote the saying “ many a man sowed a tree who’s shade he does not expect to enjoy” it’s preservation will be appreciated more in years to come DV, not many of them are around Ireland to day.

The first two photos are of Vince Cunningham who called to the Museum this week, I was delighted to meet him and he told me he was a train driver in England. I found him very interesting and he gave a present of a book entitled Diesel Traction.
