This young 5-piece group of multi-talented performers aged just 16-19 from An Rinn, Co. Waterford ...are exceptional...combining songs, traditions of the Famous Clancy Brothers with youthful energy, theatre, humour and plenty of divilment...

These lads know how to entertain an audience...opening with a hilarious 15 min set 'How'ya Now? with young comedian Willie Whelan also from An Rinn ... followed by a full concert...of powerful vocals, acoustic musicianship, storytelling, drama and fun! ...

🎨 FROM SOIL TO SKY

Artist Stephen Power - responding to Sigur Rós, Untitled #2 (Fyrsta)

Sometimes a piece of music doesn't inspire a new painting...sometimes it makes you see an existing one differently.

When Stephen Power was responding to Sigur Rós’ Untitled #2 (Fyrsta) from their 2002 album ( ), a painting he had already created came to mind - "From Soil to Sky"

And suddenly, the connection was there.

Fyrsta - the name Sigur Rós use for Track 2- suggests “the first”, a beginning.

And From Soil to Sky feels like a journey of its own.

The painting moves upwards through earthy reds, burnt orange and warm ochre, into greens and turquoise, before opening into lighter blues, white and gold.

There is a sense of growth and movement of something beginning in the earth and reaching upwards towards light.

The palette is wonderfully alive. Deep greens and turquoise bring the feeling of nature and water, while orange, red and yellow inject warmth and energy. Purple appears in small, unexpected flashes, and the white areas seem to lift the whole composition towards the sky.

And then there are the little flowers appearing within the layers - small signs of life, growth and emergence.

Perhaps that's why this painting came to Stephen's mind while listening to Fyrsta.

Not because it literally illustrates the music, but because the feeling of a beginning was already there.

From soil to sky.
From earth to light.
From the first mark to whatever comes next.

A painting already created - finding a new meaning through music.

Cashel Arts Festival

THREADS: Time, Memory and Material - a fabulous curated exhibition of contemporary glass presented by the Glass Society of Ireland in partnership with Cashel Arts Festival 2026...Set within the Cathedral Chapter House...a must-visit for the culturally curious.

Huge congratulations and well done to Geraldine Gleeson Glass by Ger, whose vision, dedication, and deep love of Cashel and the craft of glass helped make this incredible collaboration happen!❤️

Looking forward to seeing this exhibition!

A book dying in an old library! Exhibition launched last night in Chapter House in Cashel. 27 amazing artists from all over Ireland. All members of Glass Society of Ireland in collaboration with Cashel Arts Festival. On from 1 to 4pm for next three weekends. Come and visit, it’s not to be missed!

🎨 New arrival

This beautiful work by Stephen Power is a visual response to Untitled #4 (Njósnavélin) from Sigur Rós’ 2002 album ( ).

Njósnavélin is Icelandic for “The Spy Machine,” a mysterious title for a piece of music with no conventional lyrics, leaving the listener to create their own interpretation.

And Stephen’s response feels equally open to interpretation.

The palette - slate and icy blue dominates, creating a cool, almost otherworldly atmosphere. Layers of texture move across the surface, with a luminous area of white and silver-grey emerging from the centre - almost as if something is being revealed, or light is breaking through.

Look closer you will see tiny flashes of pink, yellow, cobalt blue and warmer tones appearing within the predominantly cool surface... almost hidden beneath the layers like fragments of information, signals or glimpses of something just beyond reach.

Something is happening beneath the surface...something is being watched, discovered or revealed but never completely explained.

Stephen has responded to the atmosphere of the music, using texture, light and a restrained palette to create a work that feels contemplative, elusive and slightly mysterious.

Another fabulous meeting of sound and colour.

Another interpretation.

Another way of listening. 🎶🎨
