CHRISTINE HAKIM
Indonesian living legend, Herlina Christine Natalia Hakim was born in Kuala Tungkai, Jambi, on 25 December 1956, but grew up in Yogyakarta. She is an actress, film producer and activist.
One of the most experienced and respected figures in the South East Asian film industry. In 2010, Christine was invited to the Asia Pasific Screen Awards (APSA) to accept her FIAPF Award (International Federation of Film Producers Associations) for outstanding achievement in film in the Asia Pasific area.

She was cast as Acehnese guerilla leader Cut Nya Dhien in Eros Djarot's 1988 film Tjoet Nja' Dhien. It won 1989 Cannes Film Festival award for Best International Film. This is the first Indonesian film screened at Cannes!
Her first film as a producer, Daun Di Atas Bantal (Leaf on a Pillow; 1998) was directed by Garin Nugroho and selected for the Un Certain Regard at Cannes. It also received the award for the Best Picture at the Asia Pasific Film Festival and the Special Jury Price for Tokyo International Film Festival.
Christine has served on film juries for festivals worldwide, including Shanghai, Tokyo, Hawaii, Asia Pasific Film Festival, Sydney, Singapore and Fukoama. She was also chosen as jury for the 2002 Cannes Film Festival, alongside US director David Lynch, US actress Sharon Stone and Malaysian actress Michelle Yeoh.
