As Art Jakarta 2026 and ‘Invisible Cities: Worlds Within Worlds’ comes to a close, ISA Art Gallery extends our sincere gratitude to all participating artists for bringing their visions, ideas, and imagined worlds into this exhibition.

We would also like to express our deepest appreciation to every visitor, collector, art enthusiast, and member of the public who took the time to visit our booth and engage with our programmes throughout the Art Jakarta weekend.

Through every encounter, conversation, and interpretation, these works continue to find new meanings beyond the exhibition space. What begins as an artist’s vision becomes another world when it meets the eyes and experiences of its audience.

Thank you for being part of this journey through ‘Invisible Cities: Worlds Within Worlds’, until we meet again!

Drawing inspiration from Italo Calvino’s Invisible Cities and the concept of “worldmaking,” our presentation ‘Invisible Cities: Worlds Within Worlds’ positions art as a living atlas of imaginative landscapes. Through fragments of memory, desire, and signs, each artwork unfolds as its own self-contained realm—offering alternative ways to navigate, question, and see our shared reality anew.

ISA Art Gallery is pleased to announce our participation in Art Jakarta 2026 with a curatorial presentation titled ‘Invisible Cities: Worlds Within Worlds’

Drawing from Italo Calvino’s Invisible Cities and Martin Heidegger’s proposition that “to be a work means to set up a world,” the exhibition positions art not as a passive reflection of reality, but as a living atlas of imaginative landscapes.

Through Nelson Goodman’s concept of “worldmaking,” the presentation explores how artists take fragments of the realities they inhabit and reconstruct them into alternative ways of seeing, feeling, and navigating our shared struggles.

Moving beyond physical geography, the exhibition unfolds through three interconnected thematic journeys: Memory, Desire, and Signs. Here, artworks function as self-contained realms. Where memories are reassembled, heterotopic desires collapse the real and imagined, and the hidden systems that structure our existence are laid bare. To navigate these worlds is not to leave our reality behind, but to encounter it anew from elsewhere.

The presentation features A. D. Pirous, A. Sebastianus, Aiman, Allyson Jeong, Arahmaiani, Ardi Gunawan, Ardi Gunawan, Chintia Kirana, Dabi Arnasa, Etza Meisyara, Galih Adika, Hadassah Emmerich, Ida Lawrence, Ines Katamso, Jeremy Sharma, Jumaadi, Luh’De Gita, Marisa R Ng, Sillyndris, Sinta Ta**ra, Tara Kasenda, Yosefa Aulia, Yuki Nakayama, and Zikry Rediansyah.
